So I was wondering what benefits I would get if I had removed this piece. I believe it is a resonator (Because of no 02 sensor) but I have heard that this is a Cat and want to resolve this confusion. That's the cat from an 02/03 car.
You could remove it without throwing a code but you might not pass inspection depending on where you live.

It will make the car louder and you'll most likely have a drone.

 

I would leave it alone, unless you're getting rust hole. Depends on where you live, if you're in CA or NY never gut it, because they have very strict emission compliance
