Will 2009 engine fit into a 2000 maxima?

Wondering if the 2009 engine will fit in 2000 maxima, I'm buying a 2000 maxima soon and plan on some swapping it due to 200,000 + miles

Are the motor mounts in the same spot/most of the connections and such, basically is it a straightforward job? Also, will the 2000 maxima 5spd manual transmission work well with the 2009 motor?

that's a valid question! I wonder since it may fit in the engine bay but with the transmission for that year might not, because the CVT tranny from 2006 and onward might have a different bolt pattern than the cars with manual and auto from 2005 and back. So that's something you might have to look into.

There are plenty of people here who've done the swap into 02-03 cars with the 6-speed.

I would search for the people doing that and contact them about the 3.0 cars.

The swap usually includes the intake, throttle body etc....
There are differences with the ECU as the 3.0 cars have a cable throttle and all the 02+ cars are drive by wire.

If you're buying a car with the intention of an expensive swap it may be smarter to find a clean 02-03 6-speed car that doesn't need a swap and lightly mod it.

Or just buy a complete HR swap. There's a nice one on FB right now. I understand that some of us enjoy the labor of love, and don't like the initial price tag of completed swaps, but having just completed mine I can attest that one would be further ahead to just buy one. Unless the body is immaculate on that 2000, I just don't see the point. Find an 02-03 to start with

If you drop into a 2000 or 2001, my understanding is that you'll have to switch the timing over to 3.0 timing. Kinda defeats the purpose of the newer DE cause you'll lose the IVT and EVT capability.

Like others have said, you're better off buying an '02 or '03 shell and dropping in one of those. Then can keep the timing cover as is, and send your ECU to Darren and he'll flash it for you. Good to go.

Or yeah, just buy an already swapped one. There are several out there right now if you don't mind spending around 5k. But all said that's not a bad price for a completed swap, especially if it has low miles and a good rust-free body.

Would last for years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years and years.

The newer "HR" DE still has better flowing heads than the 1st generation DE, it doesn't necessarily mean you're defeating the purpose of a newer DE by swapping it to 3.0 timing. 95nasta, myself, and a few other have done this swap.

You'll still need to swap to 3.0 timing as with typical 3.5 swaps in 3.0 cars. I've put together an overview of whats needed for the swap - I'll post it up here when I get to a computer.

Do yourself a favor and buy an 02 - 03 6 speed car. I've bothered Darren @ Nisformance about this from time to time since i drive an '01 Auto car. It's not worth the headache or trying to keep a chassis when theirs no real reason to keep it and one year newer is much better anyway (for the most part). I just keep my '01 because i'm too cheap and attached to this POS
