Rear hub

Rear bearing is failing on my '00 GLE and I see a price difference on rock auto for 4th gens and I thought 5th gens have the same rear hub? Just curious.

Looking at Advance Auto's site I see different part numbers for 00 vs. 99. So there must be a difference.

there's a huge difference because in 2000 and on have ABS standard which means you have a ABS ring gear around it, since pre-2000's don't have abs which is rarity to find one that have abs. so if you put non abs, you definitely gonna get ABS light up on your dash and non functioning abs system.

Get a Timken from RA or Amazon. I have put them on my minivan, first rear, then front, and they work well.

After installing all 4 back in 2013, 2 timkin front bearing/hubs and 2 cheap dura-go rear hubs without abs sensor ring from rockauto. ra had the rear hubs with abs sensor at the time, but raybestos wanted ~$100/eachx2 back in 2013 and the dura-go was about $25/eachx2.

at the time, was thinking of taking it local shop, asking machine guy if they could transfer old abs sensor oem pressed on, to remove and press on new ones. shop guys said could try, nothing guaranteed, could break during the removal process and $20/rear hub x2 for trying, i backed out.

bearings made huge difference in rolling smoothness. two negatives were the yellow abs light coming on when you roll past 80mph and the abs unit temporarily disabled. the yellow light in the dash bothered me more than the abs not working. turning off the engine always resets the light and abs module. something about the hall effect not being able to compute the speed differential between fronts and rears b/c rear hubs not having the sensors. but only after 80mph, it's been like my own personal dmw/state trooper shame light for the past whatever many years

just recently ordered ra wjb rear hubs with abs sensor for about $26/each x2, they look solid. update later after completing radiator, ps return line clamps/rubber, hps hose, front pass side regulator/motor window r/r.

here's a link, make sure it has the sensor rings like the ones in the picture, looks like little metal teeth/ring.

Just to update I did put the 4th gen hub on. I didn't count the teeth on the abs ring. My front left sensor must be damaged when my friend was "helping" me with quick struts and stuff so the lights on. Everything worked before he messed it up so I know I need a new sensor.
