I got a 2K2SE Auto with 3500 miles on it. When the car is in Drive gear and I am stopped, the car idles funny and shakes a little. The check engine light is also on. Also When I accelerate, it feels different, like I have less power. It has been raining the past 2 days here in NYC. Does anyone know what the problem can be. I will be taking the car to the dealer. This just happened today.
I have not gone full throttle these days, just driving normal.

could be lots of things, maybe bad gas, a problem with ignition coil, dirty air filter, bad o2 sensor, disconnected vaccum hose...

 

I have a 2K SE 5 speed with only 13.5K miles on it, and it developed a similar problem the other day. The dealer told me I had carbon buildup, and they needed to clean the injector rails and replace the fuel filter. They charged me $183 for this, because they said it's only covered unded warranty in the first 12,000 miles!

I'm pretty sure I got ripped off, so I'm investigating further. Please let me know what your dealer says...

First of all, 13.5k and it has carbon build-up already???? Doubt it
and fuel filter on 5th gen maximas is known to be maintainece free. Why would you need to change it?

Did they run thru test for the engine light? Scanner,etc

 

They read the codes, and they even let me keep the printout from the scan tool. It shows P1320 and P0302. When I kept arguing that a car with 13.5K shoudln't have carbon buildup, they kept insisting this was a perfectly normal thing!

I've heard several people mention a TSB on the ignition coils, but I can't find a link to it anywhere. Anyone know where I can get a copy?

Mine came on at full throttle while running at track. This happened to me twice now. The first time it happened I took it back to the dealer and they told me it was my TPS (throttle position sensor). I'm going back at the end of this week so they can look at it again.

 

Thanks for the info. I will let you guys know what the dealer says. The nissan dealer where I live sucks, because they don't take appointments and you have to wait in line at 6:00AM and they call you later in the day when it is ready.

 

I have about 45,000 miles and the service engine light came on today. Everything seems to be normal though. Hope it's nothing serious.
