What sounds is that? It gets louder when I hit the gas. Also, coming from the front of the engine.

Nissan Maxima 2000 63k miles

Thanks

Yes, that sounds like an exhaust leak. It is hard to say exactly where the leak is based on a video. A common spot is where the pipes from the two halves of the engine meet to form what is called the Y-pipe. But this is not at the front of the engine, it is almost under the passenger floor pan.

you will have to inspect all the pipe connections from under the car.

With car in the air, let it cool completely.

Mix up a strong solution of dish soap and water in a spray bottle or squeeze bottle.

With everything stone cold, douse the crap out of all the areas where you're thinking the leak may be ... I mean ensure that there is a good film of soap on everything.

Start the car and quickly look for foam, bubbles or other movement in the solution film.

You're gonna have to pay close attention on account things will heat up really quickly and the solution will burn off.
