Header and exhaust question

So it looks like the OBX header is on eBay again, but for the 2002 they’re over $700 with shipping-lol

The 2000 obx header is around $400 shipped

My question, I know the older style will fit based on my searches, but what will the older headers bolt up to as far as cats and cat back exhausts? Will my factory stuff work or will I have to change everything out?

I’m just wondering because I want to gut my cats, but if I’m gonna get dirty I might as well upgrade. I just don’t want the upgrade to cost more than half the value of the car lol.

I’ve even thought about getting the 3.0 iron manifolds and getting just a y pipe lol

#whatwouldyoudo ? I just want the reliability of ditching those cats, and maybe gaining a couple horsepowers at the same time.

Thanks!

Should bolt right up. IIRC the only difference is that 95-01 style has the egr bung/port, which you simply seal. Other than that OBX might require you to shave a little off your crossmember. Simply gutting your cats isnt a bad idea as headers will only offer pocketchange as far as gains are concerned vs. gutted cats. If your tryna squeeze every last horse out of your car, get headers. If you just want more than what you have and peace of mind, gut the cats and save the $$.

Just my 2 cents.

It's funny, every time those v2 obx headers come out they're another $50-150 more expensive. First I saw was like 350, then 400, then 550, now 700. And they still don't fit without modification lol.

Theyre getting awfully close to eclipsing cattman's which is quite ironic considering how they never came remotely close in quality. Good for them though, why bother adjusting the design so it actually fits when suckers like us happily throw money at them. Capitalism at its finest.
