Ok. Some of you may already know about it. But just wanted to show everyone how the Maxspeed springs look up-close by itself. I got this through the GD for $85. Roughly a 1.7"F, 1.4"R drop according to the FAQ's and BigDogJonx (bless him!)

Serial number from box

Oh That's bright!

Would this be what you call "Progressive"?

Still scouting around for good prices on installation.

I just grew to like it. I've seen these in black but there's none for the Max.

Anyhow, this'll look good on my blue max. Reminds me of the Subaru's rally car color scheme - Blue + Yellow.

85 bucks for a set of 4 sounds like a great deal. Do they come with a warranty? Some ppl say you get what you pay for, do you know anything about the quality of these, how long they should last?

I got it off the GD Wizzamax set up a couple of weeks ago. Initially for $95 for the set but it went down to $85 with all the responses. They're being supplied by Volkscafe(.com). Wiz just set the deal up for us.

No idea about the Warranty but i think i can get it through VC given they did supply it.

Anyhow, Bigdog and a slew of previous genners have it on their Max's with no problems to date. I'm leaning towards the idea of these springs being "the hidden secret of lowering cars for a good price".

I installed them in 3hrs time. All you need is a Strut Spring Compressor, 1/2" Breaker bar, and a Friend.

Well, technically any lowering springs will lessen the life of your stock shocks. However no one seems to have problems with these nor the H&R's (same ride quality per the threads but with a lower profile).

If you have aftermarket shocks/struts you'll be fine. Then again Bigdog and a lot more have the maxspeed/stock shock setups with no problems so far.

Any aftermarket spring will lessen the life of a stock strut cause they are not made to work with each other. The Aftermarket springs put too much of a load on the stock struts, eventually they will go. But that is normal. I am still running on stock struts, I expect to get at least another 25k out of them before I change over to the KYB AGX or something that comes out similar.

You crazy.........

I have not done any wheel alignment yet, tire wear seems normal and the steering wheels seem straight on the highway when going straight.

That is strange to hear, because I read other posts, and they say smthg like you gotta do a complete 4-wheel alignment after lowering the car. BTW I hate the word alignment, because no mechanic does it perfect. I had much trouble with my previous car, and I learned a lesson to never fix smthg that is not broke

What up? You were not at the track!

Anyway, the springs look good. A couple of jack stands, good set of metrics, air wrench and you got it!! Can't wait to see 'em on your ride.

Re: Re: Look what i got! :)

I just replied on your previous post. Anyhow, to recap i got off work quarter to 7 and wasn't sure if you guys would still be there. I should've just tried and went. Honestly didn't think y'all be there till late at night.

Was there a lot of people? Wanna go back Sunday? They have this "Test and tune" day where it's $20 for the whole day, run as much as you want.

I'm still looking for alternative installers... i'd do it myself but i don't even know what those things you mentioned are (except the jack stands tho hehehe)

Can't make it Sunday

Carboy seemed like a good bet on the spring install. You should also try Pro Am on Richmond Ave.. Matt and I bought our Red Line fluid there. If you decide to do it yourself, I don't mind helping.

Good luck!

Re: Re: Re: Re: Look what i got! :)

No biggie. Darn, and to think i had the guage/airpump-compressor in my trunk just for the occassion.

Anyhow, i got a quote from Hyper Racing but everytime i call it's a different price. Called up Pro Am (had my PIAA's installed there on my prev car) but they quoted me almost $400 for the install!

There's a couple other shops listed in the regional forums but haven't called them up yet due to some issues members are having with them.

Help would be nice but i wouldn't want to impose on such a lengthy and tedious process.

When I called around for Eibach's earlier this week. Carboy wanted $200 to install the springs but Endless only wanted $120. You might want to check them out for installation too.

Let me know how the springs turn out because I want to do something to my car too. Besides you can't be $85 for springs vs. $225 for the Eibachs.
