7th Gen Swap First Start Check List

What am I missing?

First Start:

Prior to start:
Fill with fluids!!! Check/ensure: Coolant, oil, tranny fluid, AC compressor oil, Power steering fluid (do cold fill procedure first for PS fluid). Connect battery, then follow below:

1) NDSII key program (because I replaced the ECU)
2) Pull fuel pump fuse
3) Turn car over twice @ 30 sec each, build oil pressure, listen for bad things
4) Install fuel pump fuse
5) Start car, let idle, DO NOT REV!
6) Let car reach operating temperature at idle, DO NOT REV!
7) Power steering fluid hot fill procedure
8) NDSII idle air learn procedure
9) Keep an eye on coolant level (will be using a radiator funnel kit)
10)

Make sure you have the heat on full blast so you can get all the air out of the coolant. You can go ahead and leave the coolant cap off because itll go down significantly, just keep topping it off until it wont take anymore. For the power steering you just wanna top it off, start the car, turn the steering wheel and recheck the level, keep doing that til it stops going down. I dont think youll need to crank the car twice for 30 seconds before starting it for real, you def wanna crank it but a full minute seems like a lot, besides youll be cranking more even with the fuel pump fuse back in. Speaking of cranking, have another car with jumper cables on standby. Check and recheck vacuum lines for leaks, make sure nothing was left unplugged. One last thing - when you see smoke gushing out from practically everywhere in the engine bay, dont panic, its just all the solvents and pb blaster you were spraying being cooked off by the exhaust, not anything to worry about.

Do your parents know you're operating tools and machinery without supervision? XD

Pulling the upper pan off the new motor today. Old one is cleaned up and ready to go. Can someone refresh my memory as to which oil pan diffuser I'm supposed to use?

If by diffuser you mean the windage tray, you use the one off of your DE motor. The one from the HR will not fit without cutting/bending.

Are 7th gen lower intake manifold metal gaskets directional? Does it matter which side faces up?

it should not matter as long as the gaskets are properly lined up with all of the intake ports.

Thanks. There is a step-down about 3mm wide around the inside circumference of each opening in the gasket. Didn't know if that meant anything.

I swear on my unborn first child that it will be fine lol. A gasket is a gasket, as long as it matches the ports and the studs you have nothing to worry about.

I hear ya. And I'm sure it will be fine. They are 2014 gaskets going onto a 2014 motor, so I'm pretty certain they matched up when I installed them! I'm about to drop the motor in. Looking at Sunday for first start.

Also, anyone know if the 7th gen oil cooler is compatible with the 5th gen upper oil pan? This just occurred to me and I'm at work. Work is where most of my epiphanies occur as that's primarily where I am all day every day anyway.
