New Brakes?

All,

I am a new member! My brakes are starting to fade around 27K. I don't won't to dump a ton of cash into a Stillen break kit. Does anybody have any suggestions for brake pads, rotors, etc?

You can get your rotors cut if they are warped free under warranty.

Or upgrade the rotors, pads and fluid. Search for member gotrice. Last I was a brake package for under $600.

I had my local dealership cover that under my 36K mile warranty. They resurfaced the rotors and replaced the pads. Did the fuel cut TSB while I was in there. Southpoint Nissan in Austin, TX took real good care of the Maxima. Have you tried to get the dealer to cover it under warranty? Doesn't hurt to ask.

What break issue did you tell the dealer? My brakes just really started getting bad last week. I was feeling a shudder braking off the exit ramp. I think 27K miles is a bit early for brake issues.

check the TSB sticky in this forum. It has details on what to tell the dealer.

Another option is to upgrade to 300zx brakes. There is another thread in this forum that was recently started.

I recently went to the dealer to have my Front and Rear brakes inspected. What does it mean that I have "80% remaining" on the brakes?

they are looking at the pads. 80% material left to wear. This wear will depend on driving conditions.

I had a squeek coming from my front brakes when applying the brake pedal slightly. I took it in and told him I had "brake judder" and told him about the TSB. He said it was probably about time for a full brake job (I had 34K). When he called me back, he informed me that the brakes front and rear needed to be replaced, and they would be covered under warranty. I was very pleased.

How come everyone here got their brakes done under warranty? I got screwed. I've been to two different nissan dealerships in S Cali that have told me they are covered by a 1 yr/12.5k mi warranty. I have the same issue with my brakes at 25k mi. I even walked in there with a TSB which they agreed with me on and then went on to tell me they were'nt covered by warranty. Just proves my point. It's like paying insurance, you never see it. Warranties BLOW.
