Variable Timing Selonoid ???

My car is dying when i brake and pull up to a stop light. I ran codes and got the message (Variable Valve Timing Selonoid (p0012, p0021). VVTS. I Recently changed the Front Cam Sensor. Car has 150k on motor and runs well.
  • My mechanic says 'it coud be CAMS are moving out of sync due to LOOSE TIMING CHAIN"
  • Does this sound right?
He said the VVTM would be triggered when this happens?

Anyone run into this before?

~Thanks in advance

Check the wires going to the solenoid(s) to ensure they haven't shorted. Very common failure on these engine harnesses. Will fry your ECU too if not repaired, if it hasn't already.
