Warpspeed Y pipe fail

I installed my Warpspeed Y on 9-5-21 and the flex pipe is already leaking. at first I though it was the cheap gasket that came with it so I changed it to an OEM Nissan that I bought just in case. although the gasket was all messed up the flex pipe is leaking as well. I can't stand the sound of exhaust gurgle and back firing.

Most companies cheap out on the flex unfortunately. They’re hit or miss with the generic kind.

Get you a turbo flex and never look back.

it happened to me in 3 years brother ! its our salt and more brine really., that brine is the devil to cars

i bought second one, and am just waiting for that to go. next time i would probabbly have a custom exhaust place replace/repair the flex section instead of buying a whole entire new y-pipe.

I was able to get a new flex pipe put in at a local exhaust shop for $102. I wanted it fixed right away and the shop didn't have a turbo flex in stock. I'm going to order one and keep it in my trunk....

I live in central Florida, no snow and it hasn't been raining too much either. just a real ****ty flex pipe. it was real stiff so I figured it would crack easy..

good to know, thanks for posting your solution and details on your scenario, it definitely was stiff, and even more interesting you are in FL.

so the flex pipe went out on me again. I purchased a Vibrant turbo flex pipe but the exhaust shop I went to today didn't want to install it. dude was trying to tell me it would break easier. I had them install one of theirs just because I was tired of the noise.

when this one goes out I'm not going to the same exhaust shop again..

Are your motor mounts shot? In what shape are the rubber hangers in? That’s oddly soon to need another flex pipe.

Worse conditions. They use salt water to brine the streets before snow storms and its causing havoc with older cars (rust).

Aftermarket? They might be toast. They’re usually junk out the box.

so far they seem ok.

I haven't got around to getting the energy suspension mounts on my other lower mounts redone yet.

brine is the new school salt, they dont even use salt anymore, they use this liquid chemical called brine, and it is honestly 8x worse than what salt does, you can see it eat away at the pavement its so bad.

i did ES front and back mounts, and love them. def recommend them. thanks again for sharing ur updates on this flex pipe. i def don't want to buy another y-pipe for a 3rd time only for the point of the flex pipe.

the Warp speed Y pipe ( 4th gen version ) is great combined with the better flowing 4th gen non Cali exhaust manifolds. I think the fact that the flex is real short and stiff may be the flaw ( it doesn't flex ). I'm thinking next time I will have a longer flex added or convert to a donut style joint. I never had issues on my old CRX that had a donut style flange with spring bolts. or maybe install a long flex before the resonator..

good stuff, thanks for sharing the information, that design flaw theory on the length of the WS y-pipe makes sense too. fingers crossed, i am about 2-3 years into my 2nd one.
