Hello, I just got a 2000 Maxima and someone mentioned in my other thread some preventative measures I should take right now. A couple of those are to protect the ECU; I have since read many articles and forum posts regarding these preventative measures. There are all of the things I am considering doing right away:

- Replace the IACV
- Implement coolant bypass
- Replace fuse #58 with a 7.5A fuse
- Disconnect the electronic motor mounts

This is what I'm unsure about: Should I take all of these preventative measures or does that not make sense and I should only do one or some of these? I read a couple posts where people said don't do the coolant bypass if you disconnected the electronic mounts and vice versa. I want to know if that's true or if it's better to be safe and do all of the things listed above.

I'm down to do all of those but if it makes no sense then I'd really appreciate the heads up as I am a beginner, thank you!

I just did it. Do them all. The only possible caveat is the coolant bypass if you live in a cold climate (example: Minnesota). I live in a moderate climate and no issues since I made the change last week. I'd still do it even if I live in a cold climate.

No issues with the ride after disconnecting the motor mounts.

I bought a pack of 7.5A fuses and put the spare in the glove box.

I was fortunate in that my ECU appears to not have gotten damaged after getting a P-505 error on the IACV.

Thanks again for the feedback! Regarding disconnecting the electronic motor mounts, do I need to cover the plugs or their ports afterward to protect it or do you just unplug them and that's all?

The plug side that goes back to the motor mount itself I just let dangle. The plug on the harness side I wrapped in some electrical tape.

One goes to an expensive ECU. The other to a disconnected motor mount.

Ah I see, so no harm in doing both.

However I was looking at the electronic motor connectors and was scared I might break it trying to pull it apart, what's the trick?
