Help!! Key Is Stuck!

i just installed a new shift **** for an auto
the levoc auto shift **** from custommaxima
everything was fine
until now, i try to take out my key from the ignition and its stuck
what could be the problem?
the gear is in PARK
i tried moving it back and forth a few times
the shift lock button i presed a few times, from within, not with the key
and now i disconnectd the battery, maybe its a sensor, how long should i keep the battery off to reset it?
thanx

Try turning the steering wheel some to one side or the other then try to take the key out.

i tried moving the steering wheel around, but it seems that would be more getting the car turned ON.
to reset the battery, do i leave it off for couple hours or more?
im almost positive its a "shift lock" problem, and i cant find my spare keys for the moment.
for now i just took off the lock/unlock remote and just left the key there until tomorrow. and locked the doors.
this is DEFINATELY a crappy situation!!
if anyone has ANY suggestions please let me know.

Dude, calm down. Just wiggle the shift **** up and down and try to pull the key out. I had to deal with this for like 3 months till I finally gave up and had my whole shift unit replaced.

Hate to say it but I told you so

I doubt the dealer will agree to fix anything without some $$$ since he went in there and messed things up

I didn't see a 1995 Chevrolet Lumina LS in F&F, but maybe I wasn't looking close enough.

i feel for you man. i've had some random stuff like that happen to me too.
it sounds like you've tried reasonable measures. i can't imagine a mechanical shift **** would have an effect on your ignition keyhole tho. maybe the button on the levoc isn't pushing in enough?? kev may have some input.

as an aside, doesn't the levoc sit really high?

This may be a longshot, but check the owner's manual. I remember in my Sentra there was an override somewhere. I think in the Sentra the ring around the ignition came off somehow, and there was something behind it.

Sorry, I know it's a longshot, but worth checking...

Your problem is easily solvable.....just shift the hole that you put the screw into. You need to line up the bottom hole of the LEVOC with the top hole on the shaft. Then you will not have anymore problems. I had the same experience, but I shifted where the hole lined up and it was all good. So remember the bottom hole on the shifter with the top hole on the shaft. Good luck!

This is the problem: almost every car has a mechanism that prevents the key from being accidentally pulled out unless the car is in "P". Yes, you may hav your shifter in "P", but the stalk is not in the correct position. Just do like I said and jiggle the shifter up and down and the key will come out. If you have to, remove the screw and try to jiggle it. Trust me on this. The same thing happened to my shifter.
