Hello everyone,
I have a 2002 SE but he hesitate shifting from gears 1-3. It seems to shift if you let your foot off of the throttle a bit. But it does pull strongly once it shifts no slipping. Also will not go into fourth gear no matter what. Is it the solenoids? Or the transmission fluid temp sensor?

check engine light on? how old is the transmission fluid?

 

Thanks for the response. The transmission fluid looks good. There are no engine codes. The previous owner said there was an engine code for transmission solenoid. Also, I am using a couple of speedometer apps and the car shows about 5 miles an hour slower than what I am doing. I noticed it because it seems like I was going faster than what I was.👨🏻‍💻

 

for the speedo, do you have the proper size OEM tires: 225/50-17?

 

I changed the valve body and I’m getting the same symptoms. I do however, have a smoother shift from 1st gear but it is at 4000 RPMs but now shifts directly to 3 gear now and it will not shift into overdrive. There’s also no engine breaking at all. RPMs just dropped to idle.

 

I would've swapped MAF and TCM before VB. Symptoms changing is sus AF.

 

maybe you should check wiring and connectors, could be something giving the ECU weird signals.

I’m getting code P0744 and stored codes P0740 and P0745

 

check the connections at the transmission. before you start throwing parts at it cycle out all the old fluid. you also want to make sure coolant isn't getting mixed in with the transmission fluid. I've heard of that happening when the transmission cooler starts leaking internally in the radiator..

P0740 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit/Open

P0744 - Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Intermittent

P0745 - Pressure Control Solenoid "A"

 

TCM doesn't need programmed.

Is this a chinese cheapo VB? Your TC was working before.
