New Brake Line

Hello Org,

03 6sp SE
I have a leaking brake line in the rear passenger side. This is the metal line. Has anyone replaced the entire brake line and if so, how difficult is the job and any pointers?

Thanks

Ive heard of people running copper line which supposedly can handle the pressure just fine, and is easily bendable by hand so you can run it along as you go, they sell kits on amazon.

Nickel copper alloy is great. I have used it many times and is easier to work with than steel. You'll want a bender, it can still kink. The job is simple but not easy. Practice making flares before working on the car.

Are you going to replace the whole line or add a union before the leak? Where is the leak exactly?

You can make tight loops by hand without deformation. A bender isn't even remotely needed.

Well I kinked it so no.

Stick with stainless if you're anywhere near salt or mag chloride.

The leak is near the connection between the brake hose to the caliper and the metal line, so practically at the end. I haven't decided if I'm doing the work since this is a critical component and I don't have any experience with this.
Thanks for all the replies.

I would cut it back near the exhaust, flare it, and just couple a longer braided line. It's just a hydraulic line. There are a thousand ways to repair it. This way bypasses all that rusty cancer.
