yesterday I googled 2002 maxima grill just to see what would pop up and I noticed one that I didn't see before on eBay and it looks pretty good, I like it a lot better than the full mesh grill I have now. I put in an order and I'm waiting to see what shows up.. https://www.ebay.com/itm/196480646122
they stole that pic from an org member here who made thier own, I also made my own. they have been around for a while, please note you may have to modify your bumper behind the grille for these to fit.

this is the first time I've seen this style grill on eBay. I saw a similar one on another site but it was like $250 I think.
it came in today and it looks like I have to drill my own holes for the mounting point. the wire mesh looks like it wasn't designed well so I might take it off..
thanks for sharing these pics ! for many years I always wondered ! and yea they went for $220+ back in the day. and yea stock doesn't have mesh so no issue to take off
yea that fitment is gonna be fun ! def post if you figure it out . def use your stock grille for reference there are x3 10mm nuts that mount to the bumper, these grilles usually use only the 2 outer ones (3rd is behind emblem). i think you may have some creative work to do to make legit attachments or just tap the plastic for the 10mm nuts, don't forget you have to modify (cut out) the bumper in the middle of the grille opening.
i have my old custom one if you are interested. depending on how that goes.
I got it to fit. for the grill itself I removed the mesh and drilled a 1/4" hole in each upper tab. for a better look I cut the center section of the bumper with a saws all and diagonal cutters. I used zip ties on the upper tabs. the lower tabs have to be carefully lined up, they just sit in the groove with no fasteners.
