SS resonator...

Hey Guys, I was wondering if anyone knows of a good stainless steel resonator to replace the stock rusty one on my 2K1 SE 20th ann, since I'm soon gonna put the Y-Pipe and new SS muffler, I want everything to be made of SS so this way I wont have to bother about rust, cuz I live in winterland.

Thanks for any input.

Magnaflow are the best performance design wise I've heard/found. Check their website for sizes. http://www.magnaflow.com/03cat-back/...steelround.htm

Let me know if you find one for cheap, since I need to order one too.

All of these seem to be labeled as mufflers and look like mufflers, not resonators.

Hey BigDogJonx, your right, I already send an e-mail to Magnaflow asking if they made a resonator, cuz I had the same impression, I'll keep you informed asap.

Cheers

Guys, RESONATOR = MUFFLER...

They are the same thing internally, just a different shape to fit in the area they are needed.

All you need to worry about is the length and tubing input/output size.

I like the Magnaflow, because it is perforated NOT louvered(sp?) and SS.

FWIW, here is what I have. (Look at the bottom of the page after it displays)

http://www.banzaisports.com/banzai/universa.htm

It's stainless steel.

Just providing another option.

Louvered is BAD!

Perforated straight through mufflers provide less backpressure than louvered ones. Actually, I've read louvered mufflers can actually INCREASE backpressure over STOCK.

Check out this SCC article(Page 2):

Thanks anyways.

Well if your going to replace your res you might as well do the whole b-pipe (cat to muffler). Warpspeed and Cattman are supposed to have b-pipe available shortly both with res I believe. Just find out what they will be made from?

Yeah, I know. I did it after living with a 2.5" b-pipe (sans resonator) and a straight through muffler. It was simply too loud. Hence the louvered res. I just had to cut the noise. I still don't think it's as bad as stock given the smaller OEM piping and the two RIDICULOUS restrictions on the OEM B-pipe.

As PG said, warpspeed and cattman can't come soon enough.

Thanks 2K2DEMAX, I was stongly suggest to keep the resonator otherwise I'll be too loud but because I'm redoin the entire exhaust, I want everything to be SS. Were did you get the Banzaie pre-muffler and how much.

Cheers

Sorry, didn't see your question. Better late than never. I got it at carparts.com about a year ago. I think it was $80.
