Installing System Day #1

Whats up folks, todays day #1 of the system install. Took apart the ENTIRE dash to find an opening in the firewall and couldn't find ****. Well I talked to my boy at Boomer and it's like:

Me: Any tips on finding an opening in the firewall in my 00 max?
Dude: hehe good luck!

so well it was a pain in the rear but I found a spot above the gas pedal which looks tight and very neat. I lost my 40-amp mini fuse tonight and I couldnt find one anywhere! Went to boomer, radio shack, and adv auto, NOTHING!!! So I bought a glass fuse thingy that looks cool and cost me 30 bucks which I mounted on the air box ($hit for 30.00 i shoudl mount it on the hood!)

Well I got my 8-guage power cable through the firewall and b4 I knew it, it was midnight and my mom was *****in' over the phone so I had to go back...

Currently all I got done from 7 to 12 was the power but from now it'll be a breeze to do the rest. My entire dash is in pieces and my neon tubes were under the dash but i didn't wanna take them out, I'm driving home and like the tubes entangling in my feet, not a pretty site.

Also with my dash apart I hard wired my detector (8500) so it's mad slick now. Keep all of yous updates, good night!!!

HA, you should of asked me were to drill the hole! It took me all of about 5 minutes to find a hole and drill it. There was only one place to do it with out removing all sorts of stuff. There is a little circul cut out about 6 inches and to the left of the gas pedal. There is a little plastic circual piece about 2.5 inches in circumfrence there. I looked under the hood and could see that this hole connected to my hydrolic clutch resovoir. So I calculated it my head were the resovoir was and made a mental note of the shape of it as I entered the car. So I wipped out the drill and drilled to the extreme down and to the right of the cut out above and to the left of the gas pedal. When I drilled through the wall it came with in a millimeter of the clutch resovoir, exactly as I planned .

For the past 2 days I have installed my tweaters(custom mounted in the door, crossovers and "PAC RCA's" all inside of the doors and installed my leather door inserts. Only the rear doors are done and amp right now, the rest will be done tomarrow! The stereo sounds pretty damn good so far.

If you are using the stock deck and need a place to wire the REM wire in, tap into the positive ciggarete lighter wire. If you need a pic let me know.

theres actually a way you can get a power wire through the driver side. check behind the wheel well and you'll see a rubber thingy that you can run the wire through..

im actually making a switch for the amp instead of a rem. honestly I dont wanna take my crappy head unit apart and when I get a new head unit I'll do it then, plus I want the option of turning my amp off since well it'll be a pretty ghetto install since im not putting in any bass blockers... thanks for the tips i shouldve asked before i started drillin!

I almost drilled too, but some of the other org members filled me in on where to pass the wire through.

Heres a pic of my nice easy/clean REM wire "tap".

I read about not having to drill too but drilling was a lot easier to do.
