i was drivin 50 something on a 40mph road when a damn popo pulled me over. but he eased up on me by giving me a ticket for reckless driving. 78 bucks!!! but my main question is, do i get points for that? thanks

 

Well I dont know how a cop can give you a ticket for reckless driving for being only about 10-15mph over speed limit unless you Truly were driving recklessly.

And yes reckless driving is charged with points. Four points on your insurance record, cause I had one back in the day. And them points represent Insurance Points, not State DMV/MVA points.

That ticket is going to hurt come insurance renewal time.

thats not easing up on you. 10 mph speeding in VA is like 3 points and i think reckless is 4 or maybe even 6 points.

Yes Reckless in VA is 6 points. and stays on your record for 11 yrs

50 anything in a 40 isnt reckless if you were just speeding!! As long as you werent a big pr!ck to the cop and go to court it will probably get dropped back down to just speeding. Talk to the DA before court and he will plea just to save time. Did he actually write reckless on the ticket or the speeds?
I just got a 67 in a 35 (which is reckless since it is well over 20 mph over limit) and no one would plea bargain with me sucks...

 

i got 80 in a 55 and got a reckless ticket but the judge let me go to driving class and when i completed it he reduced it to 1-9 MPH over. i paid $60 for the class. i think it was well worth it.

 

Go to court. Depending upon your state the fine can be reduced and no points if you go to some school.

well to start with I didnt think I was going that fast..car is just tooooooo smooth at speed!! secondly I was outta town and thought the speed limit was up to 45...and thirdly ooppsss

oh and Newman96se I did go to the course before court and had a good driving record. judge just wasnt feeling genourous at the time
