Just reached 1000 miles
Hello everyone, NEWBIE here
. I've been a lurker on this site for about 2yrs now. After buying a 2002 Sterling Mist SE, I now have DA ***** to make my first post. It's fully loaded, except for Nav. So far my only mod has been heavy duty floor mats :P For the record, I tried the search feature, but it's mad laggin right now, so without further ado:
Question #1: I've just reached the 1000 mile mark yesterday. Should I be worried about an oil change now?
Question #2: Should I go with a Nose Bra, or the 3M film stuff?
Question #3: If you had to do it all over again, what would you have done to your car right from the beginning?
People have been breaking their necks trying to get a good look at my car as I drive by. I'd like to keep it that way, so any advice you guys offer is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Lamont

Congratulations on the car and upon reaching the beginning of the fun part -- being able to really rev the engine
#1: Its up to you. Nissan doesn't recommend the first change until 3750 or 7500 depending on your driving. It won't hurt anything if you want to change it now though.
#2: If your car is still in great shape, go with the 3M clear tape. Its pretty much invisible and its sure a lot easier to car for than the nose mask I have. It might even protect better.
#3: 3M tape, 1000 mile oil change (just for piece of mind), and not have done my first 1000 miles on a trip from OH to PA.
Good luck with the car and enjoy

Congrats on your new ride Lamont
1. IMO an iol change is not yet necessary. Do the 3000 mile interval, you cant go wrong.
2. Wish I did the 3M film when I first got my car. If you've been lurking around here for some time now, you should know that Nissan paint sucks.
3. If I could do it all again I would have waited for the 2K2.
Since the 2K2 has enough power to keep your appetite in check for now, I would suggest that you mod out your suspension first. RSB, FSTB would be first then in time springs and struts.
Enjoy your ride..

yeah...
definately 3m.. I did my change at 1750. alittle early... It wasnt really needed but it made me feel better. That's probably all it will do for you, but sometimes thats enough reason - was for me

I am a newbie as well, I dont even have 1000 miles yet after 2 weeks, 540 only.Well, im interested in this 3M Film stuff.Where can i buy it?where can i have it professionally installed? Can I install it myself? How much does it cost?

Your local tint shop should have it. It's going to cost a pretty penny if you do go that route. Somewhere in the $400 range installed.
There's a site you can buy it from.. forgot the URL though.
