Tired of the bull**** but.....

Can some one tell me whats up with the maxima's brakes. I was driving from VA to NY friday night and I was pulling up to a the toll for the NJ turnpike when i seen a grey oldsmobile Aurora, bascially we raced the whole turnpike until I got of at exit 10 going to staten island. The good part is the maxima can get at a V8 which was impressive. Any how I got off and at the first light i went to I heard my brakes making a funny sound, it sounded like an old door that never been opened in a long time type noise. So when I got home I looked at my rotors and me being the bright person I am I touched it and got burned like ****. But once the cooled down the noise went away but the still make a slight noise Im not sure if its just me, and I just got my rotors changed and was happy with the way it was running. How am I suppost to build on it when I keep having to repair the brakes? I know nissan is not that stupid to make a car that has that much power then put bicycle brakes on it. just dont make no sense Im starting to consider order some performance rotors and brake pads. Anyone have input on this?

Don't worry, it's brake dust. If you were hard on your brakes while racing (slowing down for other traffic, etc.) you heated them up good, and that makes LOTS of dust. When the car is cool, try washing the wheels down with water, or better yet, pull the wheels off and spray some "BrakeCleen" on the rotors and caliper/pad assembly. That's what the dealer will do, but charge ya $100.

Hope that helps!

I used to hear that noise all the time. It kinda sounded like someone grinding their teeth or something. I was also having a bad problem with my brakes "shimmying" whenever I would go to stop.

I got my rotors turned and my brake pads replaced and I haven't had either problem since. That was about 25K miles ago.
