ValveBody swap for 5th Gens COMING SOON

I'm helping Don at Mobiletek.com setup a VB swap program for 5th gen. He should be up and running w/ it in March.

So, if you've been thinking about it, but want to avoid the week down time (mailing VB for mod), here is your solution...

Contact Don; and tell him Mike told you.

Benefits: manual-fast shifts w/ no slippage, fortifies auto tranny so other power mods can be added w/out burning tranny up. What other mod @ $450 will drop your 1/4 time by 1/2 a second?

--------------8/5/02 UPDATE:---------------
DUE to problems encountered on this venture, and the sheer length of the ordeal (many of you heard what I went through) I have dropped out. I don't feel comfortable promoting it anymore.

Don
Don and I have been talking for a week, and I thought we had reached an agreement that would allow him to offer this service. But, I think he still has some reservations about future business.

Please provide feedback, if you would take advantage of the VB swap, so Don can see how valuable it would be to us, and lucrative to him.

I will keep everyone informed of what develops.

I'm working for all of us!

im very interested in the Core swap... i have A VB on order since one of the first group buys but i still could not do it because i cant afford to have my car down for a week... and now my car is in nissan to have its transmission changed... so hopefully this program will work because i know that in my case i really want it but the only way i can have it is with an exchange program... and i know there are plenty of others on the .org that are in the same position as me.

is it really that hard to make a core exchange program like u did for the 4th gens?

The issue is his upfront outlay of $$ (to buy the initial VB), with no guarantee of selling it. That is the risk I have offered to relieve him of, by buying the first one for him, and then being a sure customer. We are working out the details.

Hopefully, with feedback from this forum, we can show him it will be more than worth his while to do it.

Im definitely gonna get the vb mod for my 2002 nissan maxima automagic. Will the mod make my car beat, match, or lose to the 2002 manual? Also what time differences?

i've already got one in. cheap mod. no reason not to. if you're going to do the vb, might as well put it at the same time since you have to drain the tranny fluid anyhow.

Yea, he buys a rebuilt, mods it and sends it to the customer. The customer puts in the new one and sends him their old one. He has it rebuilt, mods it, and swaps it with the next customer.

So, each Cusomter is giving up a used tranmission and getting back a used rebuilt w/ mods. Plus, the new one has a longer expected life than the old one because the mods make it run cooler. Car runs faster, and tranny will last longer; what a deal for $450.

I didn't... but I was in the same situation as you guys... I wanted the VB mod, but could not afford the downtime... so I bought a new VB unit from DaveB, had the new one modified, and now I have an extra one. If you guys care to chip in some $, I'd be willing to let it go

For feedback on Don, and what this mod will add to your Max, read the what your peers have said on his site(www.mobiletek.net/vb.html).

I was speaking w/ Level 10 about a torque converter, and they mentioned they might be able to do a VB swap, group deal, w/ us.

I will keep everyone up-to-date on how this is all progressing. I guess we'll go w/ the company that gets it together first.

You still won't be able to beat a competent 6-speed driver. Not even a normal 6-speed driver.

I donno, some have reported drops in times with this mod, some havent. Synki said it did squat to his 1/4th times.

I guess I place a lot of faith in our peers with the fast Maxs, like Y2KevSE. So, if they say it makes a world of diff. I'm going with it. Worst case scenario, if it does nothing else, it will extend my tranny life, as I add more power mods. like SC or NO2.

Re: ValveBody swap for 5th Gens COMING SOON

Done deal!

The 5th Gen. SWAP has arrived.

Don at MOBILETEK.net is fascilitating-I knew he'd come through for us.

I've paid, and the initial VB is on order.
Given shipping times, mod, & installation, he should be ready for the next swap customer in about 2 weeks.

Get your tax refunds ready, and E-mail Don to get in line for the swap: $450. What a deal!

I'm working for us!

Actully the VB mod makes it run hotter than normal, thats why you need the tranny cooler.

Everything I've read says it makes it run cooler, because there is less prolonged tranny friction during shifts. The prolonged friction is caused by the slow shift into gears, which is how the OEM creates a smoother, slower shift. (It would be like holding a manual clutch 1/2 way in for a long time, the friction will burn it up eventually.) But the friction causes heat build-up. The VB mod cuts that out, by shifting quickly into each gear.

It makes more sense, the way I heard it; but I'm not a tranny guru, you could be correct. Maybe a tranny expert or someone with this mod, can comment on the temp. effect. Anyone??????????

Either way, I suggest everyone get the cooler anyway, it's only $39, for the extra "insurance"-not a big hurdle to overcome.
