Giving FrankenCar a try...
Giving FrankenCar a try...
I have considered going back to the stock airbox and doing OSCAI as you may have read in another thread, but I wanted to give my butt dyno a chance to evaluate the Frankencar intake after having the Berk installed for a while and hearing all this positive feedback on Frankencar on the orgy. So, I am going to swap the Frankencar ram with the resonator and see how I likey-likey. I'll let everybody know my impressions of switching between Berk and Frankencar on this thread after I've done the swap, so subscribe to it if you care.
I may do a swap between all three and give my impressions if I feel like doing all that PIA work on Sunday.
Nice doing business with you Steve.

Re: Giving FrankenCar a try...
Yeah, I am considering FrankenCar intake myself for my 2002 Maxima.
After reading all the threads about, it supposed to give about 10hp and 10lbs of torque. So it looks like a good investment.
It will be good to some comparisons on it.
Thanks.

As for switching...I'm not sure that the power gain from Berk is worth the sound. I use this car for business a lot (non-car guys in the car with me) and that whole "image is everything" axiom deserves observation when it comes to making money. The sound can be a negative sometimes, as much as I hate to say it.
In addition, I think there is a little merit to that common thought that the POP filters like Berk will prove to cause noticeable torque loss in the warmer, summer weather.
I was going to go to OSCAI to get the sound down and to protect my torque this summer. I thought I might as well give FC a chance. If FC makes my butt dyno needle go off the charts, then I am thinking of working on some sort of OOGLIE cold-air box for the filter. We'll see.
