H&R vs. Stock: Before & After Photos

If you're on the board right now, give me a little bit to get some photos up on this thread. I am working on getting them up for you...if you see a "be patient" graphic, just give it a few minutes and refresh.

Below are rear wheel comparisons. The crappy gray day is before the 35% tint and before the Tokico/H&R's. The bright sunny day is after both of them.

Man, that's the perfect drop for 5th gens. The wheel and the arch line up just right. And damn, you keep that thing clean too.

Ever thought about tinted instead of clear side markers? Just an idea, might look good on the dark car and you could try it with your old colored ones.

No comparison for this one, but just in case anybody wants to see the 2K2 tails on a Gray Lustre Max. I'll update my sites when I have some more time and get rid of most of the old, hazy-day pictures.

The ride is nice. Although bumps are a little more noticeable, it is also evident that the car "handles" them better on rebound so that they are not unpleasant. Less noise on bumbs as well..or, at least more muffled noise as opposed to louder "bang" sounds. I am very pleased with the H&R/Tokico combination.

Interesting though on the markers. I've always disliked the stock markers because of color, but also think the clear markers are a little cheap looking...although the photographs don't do them justice...they look better in person. If I get a hankering for a project, I might play with the old markers, using Kevin's original method for clearing them out and then maybe trying different celophane's until I find a good color/tint...then melt it in there with a hairdryer or something.

I agree on the drop...the wheel arch is an almost perfect match. I try to keep it clean when it is not raining around here.

This is a bit of an odd one, but this sort of shows what 35% tint looks like in comparison to no tint (just in case anybody cares). From my other pictures, you can see that the graphite/charcoal tint looks much darker from the outside...particularly in direct sunlight.

That drop is nice. I think I might get that setup or something like it when I get my springs and struts. What are the dimensions of your tires? Do you have a 45 sidewall?

Your springs haven't settled from the looks of the pics. Over the next few weeks they will drop a bit more.

Do you have H&R's? Most of the people I've talked to about H&R Sport springs (on Maxima's and other vehicles) say they do not notice any settling...and H&R themselves point out that their springs are wound not to settle...but I'll let you know if I notice anything different.

Nice ride fellow AE! I currently have the Eibach set up but need a bigger drop, I know the H&R drop is about 1.5 but Im looking more of a 1.75-2in drop. Anyone know if there is a spring set that offers this?

I know MaxSpeed claim a 1.7"+ drop and I think Sprint Springs claim a 2" drop.

Nice ride yourself...if I install the V2, those intake pipes are getting either polished (like yours) or powdercoated blue to match my electrical tape and the future color of my vacuum tubing as soon as I get around to it.

If you do decide to go with the V2 let me know because Im planning on doing the CAI straight into the blower so Im gonna loose one of my pipes if your interested.

Yes I have H&R springs on my car. They settled a bit more for sure. Give it a few weeks they settle for sure.

Interesting...most others don't report much settling, if any with H&R. Like I said...I'll let you know if they settle.

Cool. My car seems to be sitting lower than yours and I found it settled a tiny bit more. Measure it you exactly and check it again in 2 weeks.

That's what I was thinking after this exchange. I'll do that tomorrow sometime so I have the "before" measurement.

Did you measure the fender gap before and after? If not, can you PLEASE measure the front/rear wheel gap?

Looks great, but the shadows and glare make it a little hard to see exactly where the tire ends on the side view. If possible can you take a few more side shots with BOTH front and rear showing together? I'm trying to see the difference in wheel gap between the front and rear.

Also, any ride difference when you switched to Michelin Pilot Sport A/S's?

Thanks.

Re: Looks GREAT!

So how do you think the car handles with H&Rs? It looks great. That is the look I am looking for.
I am planning to put them on my 2002 Maxima. I am probably going to use the stock shocks. I don't think that the blue Tokicos are any better than the stock shocks.
I used to have Tokicos on my 95 Maxima and they sucked pretty much.

Yeah, maybe...but no Stealin kit going on my car. I've got my body kit and I'm happy with it.

Ice...in answer to your other questions. I will measure my car today...don't have to go out until a lunch meeting. I haven't put much mileage on the car since the springs went on (less than 100 miles), so we'll get a pretty accurate reading of the drop before any settling, if any, occurs.

The Pilot Sports are a very noticeable modification. At first, they produced higher cabin noise levels than the RE92's. I have either adjusted to the sound, or they have broken in at this point. The grip the tires provide is VERY noticeable. I remember driving it into the tire shop one morning and being very impressed when I drove it away later that day. As I drive on wet pavement a lot, I can rave about the wet traction of the Pilot's...no more wheel spin on agressive starts from a light (agressive does not mean race conditions...just fast starts). I have since recommended them to a buddy with an Audi TT (which also came with RE92's stock) who is VERY impressed with their performance on the AWD and my buddy is about to replace the tires on his VR4 with them as a result of our experience (even though I told Mr. VR4 to skip the A/S and just go Pilot Sport or Pole Position...he needs all-season tires).

Thanks! I wasn't trying to knock your AE kit, I was just saying that if I get the Stealin Kit it will look awesome and have a lower look. The AE kit looks great for OEM.

Thanks for the info on the Pilot Sports, I'm hoping to upgrade soon so any input is helpful. Keep me posted on how they handle wear.

Let me know on the wheel gap measurements. Thanks again.

It looked like a lot more difference than 3/4" front to rear. I guess it's just the shadow in picture.

I think it is a result of the fact that there is a coat of "tire shine" on the tires which had worn off around the part which has ground contact on turns...so the light was not reflecting strongly all the way to the edge of the tire.

Dang Sweet Tires!!!! I've had them on my car for a month or so, and they are beautiful here in the winter. Can't wait to see how they do in the rain and warm sun. They look aggressive, esp. with the drop. My Eibachs and AGX's will be going in as soon as I have a Saturday afternoon free, the ride won't be as low, but I'm hoping it will look just as nice.
