Using all 6-speeds...

I had the honor of driving Michael Galati's 6-speed S4 today.
As I drove around town, I noticed that there was no need to shift out of 4th.
So tell me, do you ever use 5th/6th in the city or are they exclusive to the highway?

i figured if you CAN be in 6th then you should be. if you're not in a hurry and you dont need power just let her run at the low RPMs to save gas.

I use 5th anytime cruising over 40mph and 6th if cruising over 50mph. If I'm in stop and go traffic, I'll keep it in the lower gear so not to shift constantly. Basically if it keeps the engine above 1500rpm, the gear is fine...any slower and it lugs the engine.

Rolling around at 1000 RPM will give you bad gas mileage. It also puts a lot of strain on your engine. The most efficent RPM is at about 1900 RPM.
