2003 Max!

I am receiving two different views from two dealers on when the 2003 MAX is coming out. One told me Fall this year, and one said fall next year? Which one knows what is really going on.

I figure if it is fall this year, prices on the 2002 will only get better and I will purchase one in a couple of months. Otherwise the rebates may go away for several months and I will have to wait until Summer 2003 to get into a 2002. By that time I will probably want the new model

Also, why are they being so secretive about it if the car comes out this year? The G35 and Z have been in public view for some time before production. Why not the same for the MAX? It is the same company for both so I question the secrecy of the MAX (like when it really will come out).

Re: 2003 Max!

I work at the nissan dealership and I talked to the owner of the place and yes, they are trying to keep it secret. he said that he talked to some of the guys in Japan and it seems that the new maxima will be upgraded to a higher class car, it will be bigger, stronger, don't know exactly if it will be a RWD. but that's not a 100%, he said that he thinks that that's what's going to happen

Vinipux

and about delivery date??? who knows about that

Re: 2003 Max!

A 2003 must come out this fall (or thereabouts)...if it is next fall, it would be a 2004.

Now, the question is...will the new Max be a 2003 or 2004?

I am really just looking for a release date. The new car will no doubt be above $32,000 US for a simialarly equiped car since a loded ALT is about $28,000 and that will out of my price range. If we time it right, we could get an 02 MAX for a great deal before it is discontinued.

either way, it sounds like the concept of the Max being a "4 door sports car" is being thrown to the wind. It may be powerful, and even at the low/mid $30's a good deal for power and luxury; but my opinion is that the 2k2 is the last of its kind...

nissan dealers around here tell me that the 2K3 maxima will move up in the class with the toyota avalon and that the altima will take the place of the current maximas... no mo 4-door sports sedan.. it'll be big and clunky, ahhaha...

For the millionth time the 2004 max is going to be the 6th gen, not the 2003. It will come out sometime on or after spring 2003.

In other words, the new maxima will be bigger and have more luxury like the Q45 I suppose? If you look at the previous Q45 models, they were quite as big as the Maxima. After the I30 came out, they made the 1998 Q45 bigger. Is this where the maxima is going?

I agree they are blowing this one to the ground emax95! The new Max will appear in the Fall/winter 2003 as a 2004 model end of story.

I still can't believe that they are moving the maxima a class up and it will stop being special(4 door sport sedan) and some crappy big *** vehicle with a V8 like an LS430

The higher the price, the better the net margin for the manufacturer. They did the same when they introduced the SUVs. They kept pushing the price up, year after year, and people kept buying them, in growing number... So they're doing the same with flagship cars... Bigger, more luxury, more HPs, more gadgets, higher price, better money...

That's pure capitalism guys.... Nissan doesnt care about people like the average us, with lots of aftermarkets gizmos... no really, all they want is better money.

The Cat is out of the bag!!!

The 2004 Maxima is going to be Twin-turbo, SC'd with factory NOS. It is gonna have a manual and a auto tranny to switch between, it is gonna have 20" rims on it and already be lowered by Stillen and it will ride like a cadillac. Did I also mention it will be AWD
The audio/system will consist of High-Def TVs in the headrests and a Direct TV system built-in and a 900-watt Martin Logan Home theater system to boot will be optional.

Good thing is that it will be priced at 30K fully loaded

Disclaimer: This is for the comic relief of fellow org individuals.

The 2004 max will be a new body style and no one knows for certain what it will be.

this is the most probable scenario of the many rumors of the last 5th gen maxima i have heard... and i will stand resolutely (did i use that word right?) by this prediction:

the 2003 maxima will share the same engine/tuning as the 2003 350z up 25 hp to 280 hp.

2k2 , 2k3, 2k4...

1 thing for sure is that 2k2 is the last of it's kind to be built in
Japan!!! 1 more reason i'm getting mine in 2 days.

just don't understand, if 2k3 is being built in USA, why would they have it for 1 yr and totally redesign the car for 2k4???? maybe it's gonna be same body frame w/ different design?

And the zillionth time.......6th gen will be in the fall of 2003 as an '04 model. I am A GM in a similiar industry and Nissan will NOT INTERFERE WITH INFINITY'S 35 SERIES. Or any other model in their lineup just yet....
Buy a 2k2 if you can... Exorcism is occuring with the Max soon... Don't know if this is good or bad just yet

Guys, read www.nissannews.com. Not only is the 6th genner what emax95 says, it is also to be based on the current Altima platform. FYI everyone, a fully loaded 2K1 Altima was $21K fully loaded, 2K2 is $28-29K fully loaded. I am realy falling in love with the 2K2 6spd., I'm sure i'll jump on a deal for the car b4 the next generation is released. Best of luck.

Guys...I live just a few miles from the Nissan plan in Smyrna and several of my neighbors and friends work at the plant. This is the scoop I've been told: The plant will start production of the next gen Maxima in January 2003. One guy I know has described the body panels to me, but he has no pictures. I suspect it will come out either as an early 04, as a lot of makes do these days, or an 03 and a half. I tend to think it would be "released" in March/April 03 as an 04, as they usually "produce" several months ahead of release in order to QA, build stock, etc. They were building and stocking Altima's here several months before public release. I saw them on the streets here 3 months prior.

I believe there will be an '03 Max, and it will be a warmed over version of the current '02.

The only details this guy told me was something odd about the sunroof. He said the space is cut the full length of the roof, and just a little more narrow than a typical sunroof, and it is a fixed piece of glass that will go in. Sort of described like a "vista" roof of yore. I asked him, or told him rather, that I hope that type of configuration is an option; he said it would be. I see no value in such an odd sun-roof design. Hopefully that gets nixed. Sounds bizarre.

Trust me, I'm surrounded here by engineers and production line workers; as I get scoop, I'll pass it on. But again, production of the Smyrna built max will not begin in earnest until January 2003. And as most things go, it wouldn't surprise me if it was a few weeks late.

At the end of the day, based on speculation, I would think this 02 Max would be my last as I don't get the sense the new one will be of the same character. It might be a decent trade from our 1993 LS 400 when we get ready to retire it, but my 02 will be remain in my garage until I run the wheels off...then I'll just get new ones! (grin).

there will be a new max for 2004, but the 2003 will need to be a little different from the current model because they are moving it to the altima platform cause it will be built in the same plant. It will most likely still be a 5th gen tho

If it's on the altima platform, then it will have independent rear suspension?

i think so.......makes sense.....the dealer told me it was this way, and the altima will be made in the same plant, so naturally, they will have the same platform

Hmm...If that is true then the 2K3 Maxima will be the best ever with IRS and dual exhaust

If the new Max is going to be an 04 model, then just like the Alt it won't be out until late 03. Therefore there will also be an 03 Max being a carry over of the 02. So 03 will be the last of the 5th gen

You are so correct KJ, according to everything we have seen in the last five years, and what little Nissan is saying, that really is the most possible scenario.
