My 2000 maxima gxe with stock 3.0 has had the service engine soon light on the dash come on. As this is my first Maxima ,i need to know what to do .Is this just b.s. that nissan puts in its cars too get you into the dealership for some high priced service work? The car is running fine,has full power under acceleration.Is there a way for me too turn off this light myself? Any input from you experienced maxima guys would be greatly appreciated.Thanks in advance

well you can do several diffrent things. One you can just take it to nissan and see whats up. Two you can go to car parts and buy the radio reader for our type of ECU and figure out what exactly happend and see what tripped off the sensor. Or three which is the easy way just disconnect the battery for like 4 or 5 hours and that will reset the computer and the light will turn off. You have to keep the batter disconnected that long or it wont' work
