Cold Start problem in Chicago
My 2K SE died after I put it in gear this a.m. I'm here in Chicago, and its one of the first days with below 32 temps.
I checked out the nthsa.gov page and found info that the idle sensor needs replacing. My girl also has a 2K Max and she had the prob this morning, too.
I called the dealer, he said they need to keep the cars overnite. After reading some dealer experiences, Forget that!
Is this B.S.?
Also, neither of us has had a problem with the tranny yet.
Anyone else with the old TCM not have a problem? I ride my Max pretty hard and haven't noticed any slip.

help!
Will someone please give me advice as to the best way of getting this sh#t done?
I have not one, but 2 Maxxes to get fixed.
I've seen some good advise on this board, and I could use some now.
Anyone a Nissan tech?

No, I think he's saying
it dies when put in gear. Well... I think its asinine that a dealer would want to replicate the problem that is obviously a TSB... thats why Nissan puts those things out. As you've seen... its a maxima thing.. they should be able to get your VIN(s), look it up and schedule a fix. It may be overnight (or a full day to fix), but I dont go for that overnight to see what happens. The one time I did that, they forgot to even look at it in the morning.. then it wouldnt do it once it warmed up.
If they will give you a rental(2), then sure... but I would look to another dealer who has more experience with the problem. They obviously havent seen the problem and are just learning on your cars (it would seem). Its like the TCM.. all maxs made before 5/00 are affected. period. whats there to diag? they just need to update the part, before you have slippage.
I dont get those guys sometimes.
good luck with your issues. "Use the Force, Luke"®

Have you considered purchasing a battery warmer?. I think Nissan offers one for a 2K. See Courtesy Nissan (http://www.courtesyparts.com). Of course, if something is defective then a trip to the dealership armed with a TSB is the way to go.
The build date of vehicles is on the sticker/plat on the inside of the driver's side door: open driver door look down and to the right. It say "Mfg Date", or something like that.
