2003 Maxima also uses aluminum hood and decklids
I was searching for info on the 2k3 Maxima and came about Alcoa's Midyear Update document (2k1) and found this
Search for "2003" a couple of times and it should bring you almost halfway through.
Quoted as follows:
Aluminum Hoods for Nissan
Nissan's next-generation Altima will feature an aluminum hood and decklid made from automotive alloy sheet 6022 being produced by Alco Mill Products.
In August, Nissan will begin producing the cars at its Smyrna, Tenn. plant and expects to use nine million pounds of sheet annually. Nissan also specified 6022 sheet for the hood and decklid for its 2003 Maxima. This is Alcoa's first large-volume closure panel program for a Japanese customer head-quartered in the U.S.

On a slightly different track, saw the new Infiniti G35 (based on new Altima) at a dealer. It is a killer !! More HP, low end torque and RWD....supposedly will compete with the 330i. Hopefully the 2003/04 Max will be like that....
