01' loose rear end

I have a '01 SE with a FSTB. Each time I take a turn at high speed, I can feel the rear end wanting to break loose. Everything else on the car is stock, including the Potenza tires it came with. No other mods yet. Does the '01 sit higher than previous Maxes? I had a 98' SE and the rear end did not feel so loose.

I would immediately assume it’s those P.O.S. potenzas. Mine started losing traction at about 20K miles. And when they got bad, they got REALLY bad.

I now have the Nittos and am very happy.

You need a sway bar.

Add a rear sway bar and all your troubles will go away. I just added the Stillen on last weekend and I can't tell you how happy I am. The loose wild end of the car has now become stable, reliable and predictable in its handling.

One drawback: The car is so crisp in its cornering that I take turns and onramps and much higher speeds; surely decreasing tread on my tires a whole lot quicker!!

dunno if theyre p.o.s. they cost almost $200 each.

they lose tread fast... but thats what we sacrifice for high perf tires.
