automatic window down function w/ screeching noise

For those of you with the power windows

I went to see my service manager today to complain about that annoying sound the driver's side window makes makes when I use the auto up/down function....and even when I don't use that function

he said that the rubber dries out so to get rid of that annoying *** sound.......

buy some silicone spray (I got mine from Napa auto parts #8300)

roll the window all the way down so that the inner corner (the part by the outside mirror) is exposed

spray the silicone into the inner corner of the door (not on the window itself)

ta da...the damn sound is gone!!!

DO NOT USE WD 40....it is too greasy!!!

hope this helps ya'll...cause it made mine go away!!

i hope everybody has power windows on their MAXIMA!

on a somewhat related topic, sometimes when i push the switch so that the drivers window automatically goes all the way up, it bounces back down.. how weird is that? it happened a few times after i got my windows tinted.. but that shouldn't matter, or should it?

thx.. dru

Great tip, thickness! I don't have that problem yet, but it's good to know there's a fix.

I had that same problem and took it into the dealership. It was under the warranty so I didn't get charged. Thank god it was before my warranty ran out 5K miles ago!
But yeah, I know how annoying that sound was, just wished I had taken it in sooner.

COOL!!!!

I started to post about this problem the other day but I figured everybody was tired of my posts about this kind of thing!

I'm going to get some silicone spray tomorrow and get rid of that annoying sound! Mine is so bad that sometimes when I have my window rolled all the way down and go to roll it back up, it comes up a little ways and senses the negative pressure and goes back down!
I thought I was going to get stuck with my window down the other day!

Thanks thiknes!

I had the same problem initially but after a week of owning it the squeak just went away.

Here's another tip, up until 10k miles chances are you're not getting the most out of your engine - yet.

VQ's are notorious for producing it's maximum power as the miles start racking up

word, that squeek is annoying! for me, its there sometimes and not there sometimes. shrug.

another annoying problem with my right side windows, both the front and the rear, is that they are slow going back up. its like the grips that hold the glass are loose because when the windows going back up it turns and presses into the back of the door frame slowing it down. im going to look into this. perhaps its because its dried out. i'll check out this silicon spray.
