18K Miles and my 16" Toyos are shot....

I could not belive how I lost my stock 16" Toyos in my 2000 SE so quickly. I rotated tires at every scheduled oil change and did all alignments. To make a long story short the interior of the both front tires got unevenly worn and steel was exposed. Cha-ching $200 for a new set of front tires. It's only money right?.

hmmm

I treated my Toyos like a rented mule... and got 26K with some thread left before changing. are you *sure* your alignment is ok?

You can get 4 Kumhos 712s for $400 or less out the door (gotta shop around to get that price).

I agree...had to be fubared...no other way to have just the inside wear out. Of course I am also assuming it is stock stance as well.

Got the stock tires as well. Currently 24K on the car, and they have been rotated every 3-4K miles. Not the greatest looking but still within limits. I really don't expect much more than 10K more out of them, at the most. Alignment is an issue, but double check tire pressure regularly. I even managed to have the wife remind me when to check them. At least twice a week if not more. Yours should have lasted longer, but every driver is different. Keep us posted on which tires you opt up for.

Agreed. 28K with my wife taking 6 trips of 1000 miles on the Interstates. Tirerack is having a sale on BFG Gforces, might have to get some.

Something musta have gone wrong with my tires. I religiously rotated them every 3-4K miles and had an alignment not long ago (unless they really botched it). Maybe they were defective tires...who knows. I'll post with the name of my new tires (I don't remember it).

Typical Toyo's. Mine were shot after 30K. I was religious with keeping them in line..rotation, air pressure, and alignment. When I had them replaced at a tire shop the guy said that he sees this problem a lot with the Toyo's. He even guessed my mileage before he saw it! He said, 30k and I was like YEAH HOW DID YOU KNOW? Happens too often...he said I was lucky to get 30k out of them. Anyhow..I got some used Continental tires for $150 out the door for all four. Small price since I'm upgrading wheels and tires this weekend anyhow.
