2K1 Prototype Grill almost done...

Hey Guys, 2 weeks ago I decided to start my own grills project for my 2K1, the grill itself was cut last week, this morning I removed the plastic grill contour and painted with chrome paint, it is really nice, I just need to wait a couple of hour and apply the clear coats. I also found some nice black trim to contour the grill, also shaved the Nissan emblem which will be relocated on top of the new grill, I will take some pics tommorow as soon as it's done but so far so good, I think it will look really nice but I'll let you judge my works soon.

PS: It's going to sit on top of the bumper grill.

Cheers

Finished clear coats...

I just finished to apply first layer of clear coats on the plastic thingy and it's really shinning, I also applied a layer on the grill itself cuz my lower grill was installed a few weeks ago and when I look very close I can see some sort of corrosion, I guess the clear coats will prevent this to happend and will keep a shinny looks. All in all the project would have cost me 25$ cdn, pocket change for US guys.

P.S: Hope to not screw it up with the install tommorow.

Cheers

Re: Finished clear coats...

The application of the clear on top of the chrome paint turn it into some shinny grey, not the effect I wanted so I just re-painted in Chrome and this time I'll leave it without clear. The grill is finished and the black trimming around make it look very nice.

I bought the trimm at Canadian Tire for 3.99$ come in a pack of 2 x 27 inches, it is also available in Chrome which I think would make it nice too, I'll buy some tommorow and try before final install. The mesh grill with the clear coats is a shinny and a little bit reflective.

Cool!

Can't wait for some PICS!

Did you say that it will go over the stock grill?

Also, what do you mean you shaved the Nissan emblem?

Good luck!

Hey IceY2K1, the grill is flat and I will have to fix it on top of the Maxima grill, I was able to removed the Nissan emblem in front of the original grill and re use it on top of the new grill. My brother in law might come today to take few shot with a digicam. Damn it, can you imagine, I own a high tech company and I dont have a digicam !!! ( I can ear my wife saying that all my money is use for mods on the max )

P.S: More to come...

Do i understand correctly? You keeping the stock grill, but just painting it chrome? If yes, I had that idea for a while, after my friend bought a Jetta 1.8T and some plastick chrome templates that stick on the stock grill. It really looks good, so i tried to photoshop mine. check my homepage.

Hey THEKNITE, I just painted the round plastic thingy that surround the in-bumber grill ( to remove it you have to remove the 6 screws located inside the grill, need a small 1" star screw driver ) Painting the entire grill chrome would make it even nicer.

Finally done...

Hi guys, this grill thing is like a suspense, he he I like that... well I just finish the install, man this one was a sucker, took about an hour to fixed the grill with some galvanized thin wire. I had to twist and tie it from the inside behind the original bumper grill, ( not much space there ) I need to find a better, easier way to install.

I also drilled 4 very small wholes to better tie the grill specially were the Nissan emblem stand at the point of origin, because this area bump the grill a bit. It was wether I cut this emblem area or the entire grill and find a way to fixe it later or work with it the way it is without making damage. I kept it the way it is but made few thin wholes.

I'll find a way to take some pics within a day or two I promess.

Thanks for your encouragements.

Cheers

Hey DrOmed, we took the shots yesterday with a Sony DigiCam, I didn't had the time to edit and compress the movie, hopefully I'll do it this week-end. Too bad my car was not shinning, the day before it was, but every time I wash my car it always raining after.

Springfield is in the west island, pass Decarie blvd, you wanna make me dream again about LA my first choice if I move from here. 9 year ago when I started my company here in MTL, I went in Santa Barbara at Wavefront softwares ( 3D animation softwares ) for a 3D animation training and I was offer a job from a company in LA, I decline it wanted to start my own. There is not a single day in my life that I wonder what I would have become if I haved moved to LA. Man if I had to do it again, I'll be taking a beer with you in Santa Monica on the 3rd avenue promenade, what do you do in LA ?

Anyway to bad we didn't get along, but there will be other opportunity I'm sure. Yes the food are excellent and cheap here.

Hope you enjoyed your staying here.

Cheers

I live in Pointe-aux Trembles, it's in the east part of the island of Montreal, it's part of
MTL, but the older guy like me always refer to PAT.

DDO is a nice city, there is been a lot of development there over the last few years, where do you live now?

Cheers.

Kev,
Do you not like the Speed Grille? I mean Remington shaver grille.

I do, but I won't cut the stock grill so I was hoping for a halfway decent looking overlay grill.

I doubt anything is going to happen with this.

Pics in the water...

This morning at 4:30am I was waken up by some water leaking noise, I though it was rainning so I look at the windows and it's not, I jump the bed and f*ck both foot in the cold water, I'm like WTF, so I fly like a bullet to the bathroom, and there it is a freaken broken pipe and the water is spilling all over the place, there was about 4 inches of water on the floor, so I manage to close the valve then rush downstair to see how's everything, water is leaking from all over and the ceiling is falling a part, all the electronics are screwed-up including the digicam my i-Mac is now a i-aquarium, my drum set, keyboard and all the rest. I removed the tape from the digicam and will check it later today at the office and keep you posted.

Cheers

Hey guys, what a freaken day I had yesterday, my brother in law digicam is now part of the history, but he had the time to dump the footage on our editing station at the office, so I will post the pics prolly monday, yesterday was one of the worst day of my life, I have about 50K damage in my house, the good side of it is no one is injured.

You comment look really selfish and I state" I'm just as interested in the pics as anyone "

Most people who replied to the thread showed me compassion and doesn't care waiting a little bit longer to see those pics because of the situation, I'm not going to flame you, your prolly just a kid that need to grow up. Next time choose your moment to make those little lokey joke, take care anyway.

Use http://maxima.cardomain.com. You can upload lots of pics and it's formatted for cars. Just don't try and use it from 3:30-5:00, because it's always down for maintenance. Click on my Homepage to see more.
