I want to hardwire my Passport 8500. I got the kit and I'm ready to go. I did a search on this already but I need some more detailed info on which wire to tap and how to get to it.

I'd like to tap into the cigarette lighter but I have no idea how to get to it. I also know how to get to the ignition wires but I don't know which of those wires I need. Can someone help me?

Tap into any switched power in the fuse box. Any accesseory that turns on when the car turns on (switched power). Also, a great place to tap into is the power of the sunroof ,if so equipped (that's what i did). Good luck.

 

I also want to tap power from the sunroof (or even the auto-tint mirror) Xtantmax, do you remember the cable colors? No biggie, cause I have a multimeter.

i would like to know which wire i can tap into for the door lights (when you open the door) . i would like to add to lights to the foot wells infront to come on when i open the doors.

Do you have a sunroof or autodimming mirror? I just did mine, tapped into the mirror... took about 1hour. I have pics, which I'll post soon along with the writeup. When you turn the ignition on, the Bell985 turns on automatically. Nice. Plus it's only like 0.1amps so hardy any current draw to worry about. I velro-ed it above my mirror, and you can't see it from the outside anymore! And it doesn't block any of my view, either. Slick, eh?
