20th Anniversary Automatic Shift ****

The 20th Anniversary Automatic Shift **** is not compatible with the 2000 Maxima as I found out the hard way. Many sites selling the 20th AE Automatic Shift **** list it as available for the 2000-2002 Maxima, but it will not slide onto the 2000 Maxima shifting stick and "lock" into place without making modifications to the plastic piece connected to the top of the shifting stick. You would have to actually cut the plastic piece to fit the 20th AE ****, and if you make a mistake you will have to completely replace the entire shifting mechanism. This is very frustrating since none of the sites selling the 20th AE Automatic Shift **** mention it at all, they all say it works with the 2000-2002 Maxima.

If I am wrong about this, please let me know if there is a "trick" to it.

You didn't trim enough off the plastic piece to allow the shifter to go down if you have to just mash down on the shifter to change gears. I know its scarry trimming on that piece, just take it slow and keep testing. Your getting there. It's worth the extra effort. It really looks awesome in the 2000 Max.

It's easier just to buy the shift console, with the **** pre-loaded, and install it as a complete unit.
