Torque Steering

Will changing my suspenions and adding a FSTB reduce some of the torque steering? I took a long trip this weekend and the wheel felt really loose; a little bit of drift even (at high speeds). If a new suspenion setup will help the problem, any suggestions on what kind to get will be every helpful.

Also if we can keep the price low so a meeting with my Business Manager(THE WIFE) won't be call for.

torque steer

My understanding is that w/out HLSD there is not much you can do to overcome torque steer. Furthermore there should be "no drift" due to torque steer. This would imply an imbalance in the torque to the front wheels. More likely you have an alignment/wheel balance problem. This would account for both the drift and the increased torque steer feeling.

I have a 2k2 and when I first bought it the torque steer was awful, BUT since I added my Courtsey Strut Bar and H&R springs, it really cut down on the torque steer, plus it tightened up the steering altogether.. I would definetly recommend these two mods...

Another "yay" for the FSTB. Granted it doesn't get rid of TS but it surely does minimize it.

Since i installed it the car has become more responsive and manageable.

There are several vendors.

Stillen (nicest looking, also most expensive)
Courtesy (good price, well known)
Ebay -"Trust", seems to be of good quality and price, looks like the Courtesy bar but with black endplates.
Ebay -"Directcarparts", what i (and several dozen .Org people) have. Also of good quality and price.

Check out the Group Deal section. StealthMax has a deal going on now. Not sure which one it is though.

As for installation, it's pretty easy. 15 minutes of your time and a torque wrench is all it takes.

I am reluctant to report that I took delivery of my 02 with HLSD and immediately installed the Courtesy FSB and did not note a change due to no experience w/o the bar.

What I noted was bad torque steer before and after the bar. Sunday; 6 weeks after delivery I checked tire pressure and found all at 45+lbs. Took them down to 34 lbs and torque steer problem gone.
I guess they pump them up prior to ship and the dealer never checked.

I just installed my Courtesy FSTB yesterday and I can definently notice a reduction in torque steer. It makes the front end feel much tighter and reduces the "lag" in the steering wheel.
