Took out a Manual Firebird tonight...

On my way home from the movies with my girl we turned left on to the road to my house and there was a late model firebird with a 14 on the back. I saw the 14 and instantly assumed 2 things.. HE has a v6 and he likes to race.... So while we cruised down the road he looks over at me after hearing my exhaust.. and he kept matching my speed no matter how fast or slow i went so i slowed down to like 40 and punched it and left him behind. We met back up at the intersection red light. No one reved or anything, I just knew it was on. So he jumps right out of the hole since he has rwd and my front tires were on that slippery tile crap... so once i grabbed the pavement i walked him.. it was funny.. i think he was a little shocked..

Just be glad it wasn't an LS1!!. Some of those V6 guys are as bad as rice boys in Civics, no concept of speed!!

Good smack down though...

They aren't that fast

I raced an Auto V8 Trans Am today and I stayed on his door from a dead stop the whole way up to 90 when i shut down due to it being a 50 zone. the guy looked over like hahaha
This is with my badly slipping Autocrappy tranny. I have both the 1-2 slip and the 2-3 slip and getting worse by the minute. The dealer finally "verified" the problem after 4 trips to the service department last week and of F***ing course they didn't have the parts instock arrrghh. Now I get the pleasure of going another day without a car.....YEA. Really considering trading in for a 2k2 6sp.

Even pre 98 is a stretch. Maybe pre 93.....

I had a 98 Forumla 6-Speed, bad a$$ car!!! A pre 2k2 max with an auto runs a 15.5 on a good day. A pre 98 LT1 F-Body should turn a low 14, that's more than a 1/2 car difference.

Not BS

I know all about 98+ Firebirds my buddy has a 2001 Formula V8 w/6sp I also almosted bought the 2001 Trans Am WS6 myself before i got the max, i know what the V8 sounds like and i also know the difference between pre 98 and post 98 birds. Say what you like but it was a post 98 convertable V8 Trans AM auto and he was at WOT the whole time and i was right at his door. after i shut down he cut over 3 lanes without a blinker (i really hate that) and jumped on an off ramp.

It means he just got back from the track and he runs a 14 or higher... since a v8 would easily be in the 13s i knew he had a v6

Ok, the Maxx is fast , but I oned a WS6 TRANS AM 6 Speed, and there is no way you walked an LT1 ..I know that a lot of V6 owners have the " TYPE - R " complex, where they rice out their car and make you think they are fast... But unless your are on the special sauce or pulling a SC, there is no way you are walking an LT1 or even yet an LS1 !

Calm down buddy.. you can walk a V6 everday. but on the LT1 and Ls 1 the 6 speed vs auto is not a big difference, not enough to lose to a Maxx....
