About 11 pm Thanksgiving night I was rolling towards Prospect Park West. I just rolled around Grand Army Plaza, caught the green light and was gliding at about 40.When a red Thunderbird barreled pass my right window at about 60 - 70, he was in a hurry. He pulled up ahead at a red light. Two of my three passengers were sleeping so I stealthily slipped up to the red light. And lined up right next to him, in the middle of the four-lane street. I tapped my overdrive button and that yellow light "O/D" gleamed up at me thought the dash. As my speed-o-meter gentle dipped below 5 mph I dropped my baby, tick, tick, into 1st. The light turn red, I plunged my foot down on the accelerator about 3/4 the way down, and the 2K GLE a sprung across the pedestrian crossing. To my delight the Thunderbird was right next to me, head to head, the race was on! I slammed my right leg down and opened her up all the way. That familiar Maxima engine murmur grew and fills the cabin like a purring lion. As we lurched forward, neck and neck, the purring of the 222hp V6 turned into a roar. Then I gently pushed my throttle forward into second. And my max pulled smoothly ahead. With my hands clutching the steering wheel I glanced at my side mirror just in time to see the T-Bird disappear into my blind spot. I pushed up once more into “D” and grinned as I noticed that my passengers were wide-awake. We streaked across 5th, 6th, 7th Street cutting through the cold night. The light turn red at 13th Street and I came in for a soft landing, The Thunderbird, reappeared and also slowed, but she never stop and proceeded to run the next to lights. I smiled and commented to my silent passengers; as the T-Bird disappeared across the second red light and around the roundabout ” he must be pissed off now” De Trini

Bravo! Great story. Boring, but great because of the way you told it. It's boring because the race didn't seem to last too long.
