Problems installing bulb

I was install the M-9 Polarg B1 hybrid bulb for my rear turn signals, which I believe is the 1156 single filament bulb. The weird thing is that when I took out the stock orange bulb, the two little brackets at the bottom of the bulb that hold the bulb in place after you push it in and turn are at an angle. While the two ***** on the polarg bulb are directly perpendicular and horizontal to each other across the bottom of the bulb. The polarg bulb can't fit cause the stock socket is designed just like the bulb, slightly at an angle.

I drew a crude image on windows paint, but I dunno how to post it up

Check the wattage on the polarg bulb. I had the same problem with my polarg bulbs and realized i had 27w. Polarg also makes a 1156 21w bulb wich is the correct one for the maxima(not for sure though). I have not ordered the 21w bulbs yet for the rear but that might be the problem we are having.

I had the same problem. The stock orange bulbs that come in the Maxima are actually an 1156A bulb, which has the little ***** on a slight angle so you can't use a standard 1156 bulb. I don't know why they do this unless they want to make sure you replace it with a factory orange bulb.

If you really want to make the new bulb fit, take a metal file and file off one of the little *****. It will then fit fine and I didn't have any problems with them staying in or anything.

I really did not like the superwhite bulb I used as much as I thought I would, so I ended up putting the stock bulbs back in.

A 1156 bulb is a 1156 bulb.

All the xxxxA stands for is amber.

Ok then, why is the stock bulb in a Maxima different? If you don't think it is then try and put a regular 1156 bulb in your car and see if it fits.

Not sure, I don't know the stock part number to that bulb.

Saying a 1156A is going to fit when a 1156 didn't is WRONG. Same bulb different colored glass or coating. Nothing else.

It seems that your right, I have the 12v, 27W version of the 1156 polarg bulb. But I am unwilling to purchase the 21W one to see if that one will fit. SInce there is no way of going back now since I opened the package already, I'll just have to follow suds1's advice on filing the **** off.

The weird thing is that I purchased the bulbs from a fellow org member and I told him that i was a 2k1, but he didn't mention that the bulbs didn't fit.
