For your convenience here's the post RE: Tustin Nissan :

My Premium Bose CD player needs to be replaced under warranty. Tustin Nissan parts dept. has AT LEAST 2 units in stock. But, they won't part with one of them to repair a customer's vehicle. Instead, I have to wait while that same unit is ordered from the manufacturer which is ~ a 2 week process on average. It can take up to 4 weeks I'm told. This certainly can't be considered good customer service. It looks like they don't mind making a customer wait so that they can keep the units available for walk in traffic. I'm not impressed.

P.S. It's clear to me that warranty customers are viewed as " captured " customers by at least some car dealers. Therefore no need to hurry or unnecessarily deplete parts inventory to satisfy these individuals. The offset to no charge is that warranty customer are classified as customer # 2.

ahhhh..

one fun way to spank your neighborhood dealer is to go here:
http://www.partsvoice.com/

with part number and your zipcode in hand, it will tell you if any dealers (who use this service, many do) have the part. "Really? national backorder? JoeBob's House of Nissan across town has 5?!"

then the hilarity ensues..

Thanks for the link. For a brief moment when Tustin Nissan thought that I was a cash and carry customer that Bose unit was not only in stock but service told me to bring my car in and they can have the unit switched within 1 to 1 1/2 hours. Once I revealed that this would be warranty work their attitude dramatically changed.

Once they sell your the car they know that you won't come back for another purchase at least 3 to 4 years. That's why those dealer screw us on all those stuff under warranty.

Talk to the owner of the dealership, be very polite, courteous, and dismayed by this. Then point out you had your heart set on buying another Maxima when the 6th gens are out because your car is oh so great He should buy that and make things happen

I don't think we have much chance of meeting the owner of the
dealership. You are much likely talking to the general manager
which is the same sh*t as talking to the service advisor.
