i love my potenzasssss!!!

in the rain, theyre simply amazing...pulling out of school, i made a left turn onto StateCollege and going about 20, was basically turning, but i wasnt really controlling the turn, i just kind of slipped/skidded into the 2nd lane after i got moving....i was expecting it so i just eased off the gas and slowed to about 15 and allowed the tires to gain any traction...it was pretty cool, and will be until i get into an accident like that....and while heading home, i was at a stop, and slammed the gas, shot all the way to redline....which made me wonder, why didnt the rev limiter kick in? it went to 6.5k and then shifted to second where finally started moving forward and straight, rather than veering off to the right....im gonna miss all the sliding when i get new tires...

Amazingly mine spun and slid a lot more during the first 1.5k miles. Lately it's been pretty sticky for some reason.

Look like it's time for a set of Michelin Z rated Pilots. Best mod you can ever get for the $$$.

haha...i was juss messn around...it was more of a sarcastic/frustration relieving type post....i really do hate em when it comes to the point where i want to drive aggressively but cant cuz of tires...but ive gotten so used to em, that i take driving in rain as a challenge...got my best power slide today while dropping a friend off...wasnt anything special but based on acceleration and a quick turn it was coo....and i love flooring it w/ the potenzas cuz the rpms go all the way to 6.5k in like a second, even though we have rev limit and the whole car is shifting right...i might have to hang on to the potenzas for empty parking lots when mixed w/ e-brake...donuuuuuuuuuttssss

Re: i love my potenzasssss!!!

I have never driven such a $hitty tire in my life. I have a friend who's got a 2k SE, who just last week had a rear RE92 -blow-out- at 65mph on the highway. He is grateful to be in one piece after managing to get the car to the side of the road without destroying someone or body.

In my case, I spent days just pounding the gas to burn as much of the pieces of crap as I could (I needed an excuse to get new rubber ). Love my new S-03 PP's

I used to live by State College in Brea/Fullerton.... Now I'm in Minnesota.. Family's still there...

Anyway, my favorite is when I hit a puddle and almost slam into a median. My life isn't exciting enough so I'm glad that happens once and a while to me to get my blood pumping. Also, I like to shovel myself out of my own driveway. I have an incline so when I get snow, my Potenzas like to take me into the middle of my yard. One advantage is that I get to meet my neighbors and give them all of my beer when they help push me out of my yard back on the driveway.

How long does it take to wear out the Stock Potenzas? Just wondering how many miles I need before I can justify the cost of new tires and possibly new rims to my girlfriend-almost-fiance-soon-to-be-wife.

Not all Potenzas are crap. Only Max's OE.

Check out RE950s.

They will really start to become dangerous. Make sure you take her out in the rain and show her how badly it launches.

I'm not a big Potenzas either. Will get Mich Pilots asap. I did a controlled skid in the rain easily. Actually my tire ain't that bad. But I like Pilots better.

The OEM RE92's are without a doubt a terrible tire in the rain. They will either make you a better wet weather driver (as they did in my case- trying to contol the car at 75mph in the rain.. ) or they will cause you to get into an accident. I held off on buying new rubber until they were getting close to the wear bars.... I just recently upgraded to 18" SSR GT1 rims with 245/40/18 S-03 Pole Positions....simply awsome!

S-03s ALL THE WAY! My second set will be at my door on wednesday.

I don't understand why people buy the michlin pilot sport a/s or the dunlop sp sport, when the s-03 is cheaper and clearly superior, judging by the reviews and ratings.

The RE92 are scary in snow!! I bought a set of LM22 Blizzaks but people tell me Toyo would be a better choice.

Would any of these tires you mentioned (SO2 SO3 Pilot) work in snow? Probably not?

Amen to that, I'm never getting a different tire, unless it's an S-04 <grin>

Dan,

I just got my first set of the Bridgestone S-03s. How many miles did you get out of your first set of S0-3s?....

I'm also interested in knowing this as I am considering getting these as well. Anyone use the Firestone SZ50?
