Last I read Kev never said he beat the 911 he just said that he kept in his range, big difference.

but isnt the 911 AWD? so that AWD launch definitely helps the 1/4. from a roll a FWD low 13 car can hold a little bit of its own against an AWD mid 12 car

This is the most unbelievable thing I've ever done with the Max. I STILL don't believe what just happened.

Coming home from work, I see a Porsche 911 Turbo driving in the middle lane on the freeway. The look of the Porsche and the FAT "turbo" made me change lanes and follow it. We were going along with traffic, which was about 75 and suddenly I see a Porsche Boxter merge onto the freeway driving really fast through traffic. She ended up behind me, and I was behind the 911... all this time, I was wishing there was an open lane so all three of us can get to run.

All three of us drove along with traffic until we reached the carpool lane, which was open because it wasn't 3:00 yet. I move over to the lane first and the Boxster follows me. Once in the lane, I floor it (tranny dropped into 3rd) but all of a sudden the 911 signals and cuts in front of me with about 1/2 car length of space. I kept my foot on the pedal and to my surprise the 911 floors it also (I can smell the exhaust from his car)!!!!!!

The Boxster keeps up for a while (about 2 seconds), but the 911 and I just dust it. I thought to myself, with foot nailed to the floor, that he was going to leave me in the dust. Amazingly, I kept up with him!!! WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!! I took it through 3rd gear and part of 4th until he stepped on the brakes because we were approaching traffic. He started 1/2 length ahead of me (his bumper to my bumper) and he ended up only 1-1.5 car lengths ahead of me!!! That was UNBELIEVABLE!!! The Boxster ended up about 10 car lengths or so behind us.

Was the 911 trying? I would think so. No one would go past 130 for nothing. After traffic opened up again, we both took off and he pulled about 1/2 on me (about 5-7 second run). Is this a confirmation that he was trying? I hope so.

Man o man o man o man o man o man o man o man o man!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stats of a 911 turbo:

Code:
No. of Cylinders 6
Power (DIN) 415 hp
at rpm 6,000 rpm
Maximum torque 560 Nm
(Between 3,500-4,500 rpm)

Layout Four-wheel drive
Manual transmission 6-speed
Available with Tiptronic S Yes

                            Manual / Tiptronic S
Unladen weight
DIN 3,395 lb. / 3,494 lb.
According to EU Directive 3,560 lb. / 3,660 lb.

Top speed 189 mph / 185 mph
0-62 mph 4.2 s / 4.9 s
0-100 mph 9.2 s / 10.6 s
Which one did I go against? Most likely it was the Tiptronic S.

I now have over 300 wheel hp (hoping to be about 310), which is over 400 hp at the crank (haven't dynoed yet) with 23%-25% driveline loss because of the automagic tranny.

If you don't believe this, I don't blame you because I would have doubts also. From a stop, he would've roasted me... guaranteed.
Sounds like My race with a DR. in my Stang...." Hey, is your car stock.."..." NO it is not, but I just smoked you and Barbie for rent ..."......

996 Turbo isn't that fast.. Andi(SupraTT) beat one by 1 car length.. the same Andi that thomas ran with door to door so if a 100 shot NOS max can keep up with Andi BPU+++ Supra.. it can do the same with a 996 Turbo..

What is faster a 2002 Z06 or 996 991 Turbo??? The reason that I'am asking is that a friend of mine just got a Z06 and now I wanna see what a 100 shot Maxima can do against it. Brian's gonna have to run him when he gets his y-pipe back. I personally think the z06 will pull pretty hard, but I could be wrong.

2002 Z06's and Porsche 996TTs are about dead even in my experience. The porsche starts pulling harder above ~140mph but just barely.

I know exactly how you're feeling.....no one seems to believe when I hounded this Porsche on the freeway in moderate traffic, that's until he screened me with an 18 wheeler and took off in the open road....oh well, I just know it wasn't a Boxster or Boxster S, this Porsche had air slits/vents on the rear panel(don't know their designations too well)...I'm not S/C'd, just y-pipe, upd, jet module, berk intake and heavey right foot. It's just an unbelievable feeling to even keep up for that 8 seconds or so...

Yeah.......Kev took the air off his spoiler....made him loose.

ALTHOUGH>...Kev might of had the dreaded aero lag....aero Push...which is NOT ENOUGH air getting to his intake.

you never know.

I believe(Hope!) Max_Gator was just being a smartA$$ to the other comment.

NASCAR Drafting = 200+mph aerodynamic missles traveling inches from each others bumpers.

Kev Chasing Porche = 130mph FRIDGERATOR 2-cars behind a bullet..

I doubt "drafting" was occuring.

Everyone here has beaten a car or at least kept up with a car that should've smoked you. Great run kev. I'm sure the Porsche guy was wondering what the hell happened. 911 was probably in the dealership the next day with the mechanics saying, "whatever. There's no way a Maxima could keep up with you".

I'm sure you got that Porsche driver thinking alright! "Maybe I should have gone more than half throttle when that maxima was behind me?"

just kidding. somehow I doubt that this guy gave a **** one way or the other what kept up with him and what didnt. Remember, he's still driving a Porsche 911 Turbo.
