I'm going to drive one this week. But my intention is only to make sure it is a kick in sedan form, because if I get a G35 it will be the Coupe later this year...

Well... my friend from work handed the keys over to me and we took a
nice 25 minute test drive. The G35 is one nice car. The handling is
incredible. The rear wheel drive is where it's at. The power gets
to where you need it. No violent torque steer. It kills anything
I've driven lately. No more FWD for me. I was able to induce a nice
oversteer slide around one turn. The engine feels stronger than the
260 HP and 260 TQ that it has. This car is a winner. My friend said
that 10 of them sold in one weekend at the local Infiniti dealer.

No violent torque steer compared to a FWD vehicle like the Max.

G35 is an awesome car. The most relaxed yet sporty car Infiniti has produced and that's coming from a Q45 owner. This car is absolutely quiet on the highway. No howling wind or anything, just a nice burbling sound from the V6. Another strong point is the brakes. I drove it pretty hard on the test drive and didn't notice any brake fade. I bet this car would make a great autocross car with a 6spd.

Exactly. There's only so much HP you can put through the front wheels.

The G35 was going to be my next car. I went all the way to the NY Auto Show to see it. The price was just out of my range(about 35K). Also the G35 is too small inside, there's a huge center console between the front seats that I didn't like. Plus you're going to have to wait for the 6spd(But there's a 5sp auto as opposed to Maxima's 4spd) I thought I was going to finally kiss FWD goodbye but I ended up gettting the 2002 Maxima SE.

$35K?? I saw some mention that they start at just under $28 - competitive with a nicely stacked Max. Edmunds has TMV price at $27,645.

Yeah, but that would be a 'stripper' G35...

Comparing nicely stacked to nicely stacked, check out how fast the price climbs...

I spoke with a salesperson and scheduled a test drive. He knew I was serious and quoted me that price. I would trade in my Max tomorrow(and deal with the smaller interior space) if it was 27K.
