Day Time Running Lights

Does anyone have information or know where to get the relay needed to have day time running lights. The Canadian models come with this option and it seems like a good choice because it adds some degree of safety.

just...

leave your lights on. You'll need to get new bulbs every 24 months.. which isnt so bad when you consider that the DRL module simply turns on your high beams at 1/2 voltage. That really kills the filament (higher amperage at lower voltage). since they are in the same bulb, you gotta replace it anyway.

Yeah, why not just leave the lights on all the time? Since the lights turn off when you pull the key out of the ignition, I don't see how you can hurt anything or wear the battery down.

However, keeping the lights on during the day dims the clock readout so you can hardly see it. You can override it by turning the light rheostat to the right until it clicks, but then you'll have to turn it back again when it's really night because then it would be too bright. I don't know if it's worth all that fuss.

Day time running lights are the most annoying thing on cars. We don't live in Europe where its dark all the time... people just need to use their common sense when driving.. turn your lights on when visibility isn't so great... common sense... people lack it. There is the problem.

Good God!!

Can we POSSIBLY have any more of a generalization here?

While I don't personally care for DRL's, I am dumbfounded how a whole continent can be dark all the time! Spend some time there, especially Southern Europe...from experience, I guarantee you, you will find alot more than darkness!!

Been there, done that... I wasn't being completely serious. I just don't think that its necessary to have a car's lights running all the time...

I guess..

you have to have some moron pull out infront of you at 40mph in broad daylight to appreciate DRL. It hurts, trust me. And to hear them tell the cop, "well, their car is silver, it just blended into the road." Luckily they got to buy me a new car, but I'd rather just not get hit in the first place.

yeah, I could care less if my lights offend somebody, as long as they see I'm there.

oh, and Europe is light years ahead of us. I wish they had the same kind of testing here for a drivers license.

Seriously, I was driving there 3-years ago in the summertime & people were piassed that I had my high beams on! "Dude you're lights are on" I know... thank you for noticing...

DRLs definitely cut down on the life of your lights. I disabled them on the Vette and I'm glad that the Maxima does not have them. If you like changing bulbs...then be my guest!

p.s. I also only put my fog lights on only when it rains or there is bad weather (the way they were intended to be used...not as a decoration).

DRLs

Thanks for the advise about bulb life and running with the lights on all the time. I understood all that. I like DRLs because of the safety aspect but I don't want the rest of the lights on, side marker, tail lights, etc.

Does anyone know if the relay is available in the states or must I order it from Canada or Japan? Any help in that direction would be appreciated.
