20 Inch Rims

Hey guys/gals,

I just got a 2K2 Maxima a couple of days ago. I want to put 20's on it, and was wondering if anyone knew how low of a drop I would have to get to make it sit right. Does anyone have 20's on their ride and if so, how low did you drop it? Pics would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance.

I think most people here have 17s and 18s. I know of one guy with 19s, but no 20s. The 19s look fine, so the 20s should work too.

Here's the guy with 19s:

20 inch rims

I have seen a 2002 with 20 inch rims in person. It looks nice they were 20x8.5, the car i saw was lowered with H&R springs and they had a little bit of rubbing when there was a few people in the car. It did look good though. I think there are pics of this car somewhere on maxima.org but i don't know where to find them, its a girl that owns the car in phoenix az.

PS: Keep an eye on the load rating for the tires you mount on those 20" rims! If the load rating gets to be too low, you won't have your rims . . . or perhaps your life . . . for very long.

He's right. Here's the link... http://maxima.cardomain.com/ Go to '2002 models', then to 'MAXIMA 2K2'

All 20 inches!

And the Nitto 555 in 245/35R20 looks pretty good from the standpoint of overall geometry and load rating as well.

Yes, I believe that Nitto's, Toyo's, Yoko's, and Dunlops all have pretty good sidewall reinforcements. I would only go with Nitto's or Toyo's...I've used them before, and they are pretty good. Just to make sure..the bolt pattern for our car is 5x114.3, right? Does anyone know the offset?

I am not lowered, but I have 20's.

I might lower soon though, I think it will look better.

WHY???????????? Long....

Okay, first off I openly acknowledge that this falls into the 'to each his/her own' but..20 inchers???
These past two weekends I watched Formula Atlantic, CART and Formula 1 in action. Have any of you have watched these cars recently & taken a close look at their wheels and tires? What do you think is the aspect ratio of their tires?? It not anywhere damn near 35 aspect ratio...I would argue it's probably closer to 50 aspect ratio -because they recognize the tire has to have some sidewall flex capability.
Granted, their suspensions are so rigid they're almost non-existent thus neded the tires to have some reasonable level of sidewall compliance but...35% aspect ratio for street use borders on the mentally challenged for me.

I have 20's lowered w/ h&r's. They rub a little when i have passengers in the back or if i hit a hard bump. I just took pics and should have them posted in a couple days.
