navigational system??
If you want the Infinity/nissan one like the one thats in my car, they are the only source. If you go aftermarket, I suggest the Alpine, or the Pioneer, they are both DVD based, and I think the Pioneer one comes with a Cd that covers the entire US. They wont flush into the dash the way it does on the stock system, but they are nice. With the aftermarket, you also get a DVD player, which I dont have, but am working on !
go see..
the latest Kenwood nav. Its incredible. So much faster than anything else. Nice interface. Better data. Just very expensive. the Nav will set you back $2K. A display will run you $900-2000 depending on which one you want. So, if you have $3-4K to drop, you'll love it.

Tim, you say the kenwood is the fastest? are you comparing that to a pioneer dvd nav? or just anyone in general? I mean most of the new dvd navs by alpine, kenwood, and pioneer are pretty much similar in speed.

not sure
which version disks I looked at. They were the current products, but I dont know if the NAVs had the latest OS fixes. After seeing the last version of Alpines junk, I really didnt spend much time with their new stuff. I like Pioneer alot, but was turned off by all that Master Unit and Slave stuff. Honestly, it was probably the touchscreen on the Kenwood that won me over.. but their menus and graphics are so cheesy, I couldnt commit. Pioneer and Alpine have much more easy to read/tasteful graphics.
Yeah, the DVD-based aftermarkets have nationwide coverage. You can also get the trimpiece to give it a "flush look". It looks just like the stock piece (same material) and lets you use the standard single, or 1.5DIN units.

You're better of getting the Alpine, Pioneer, or Kenwood DVD-based unit. Anywhere from $2000-$3000. But remember, when you sell your car you can remove the Navi & sell it for some serious pocket cash. Something that the rest of us w/factory Navis can't do...

out of curiousity
I was looking at 2k2 maximas here recently, and was wondering for those of you that have hte navi screen, how is the HVAC controlled? is it actually controlled with the controls around the navi screen? I really want to be able to tap into the navi's vid to hook my carpc up to it. I really like how the 4th gen maximas have double din, plus that din for the ask tray. Anyway, sorry if that question didn't make sense, its 3:30am here
