Clarion JUNK In The Maxima ?

My Premium Bose 6-disc CD player ( model # CR070 ) has died and there is an estimated wait of from 3 to 5 weeks for a replacement head unit. Subject to further extension on a weekly basis. A Clarion manager says that 190 head units are on backorder " due to problems ". What kind of problems ? I'll leave the interpretation up to you. Another fine mess that Nissan has put it's customers in. Nissan repeatedly tries to pass the buck by classifying the audio as an ' outside ' issue. Bottom line is that Nissan chose this brand of audio equipment for our Maximas and Nissan, not Bose or Clarion, is accountable to us.

yeah.. I agree...

they should be pulling one out of a new car until they can replace it. I could care less if they have 160 maximas that cant be sold because they need a radio. thats their problem. I wonder if you could pull a lemon law for the radio. might be fun to start the paper work.

I intend on asking the GM to pull one out of another Maxima. I'm also unclear as to why there would be more than one model # for the same audio system. It sounds like there is anyway. You can get your model # off of the cassette door on the unit. Compare it against my model # CR 070. Funny you should mention the Lemon Law. Under CA law it looks like there is a provision that covers out of use ( 30 days or more ) components on a ' value ' basis. This audio unit would certainly qualify. The car can't even be sold in this condition. If all else fails I may pursue this angle.
