Hey guys - and gals alike - I'm thinking about throwing some clear side marker lights on my 5th gen max - does anyone know of any potential street legal hang ups and then how to get around them? Thanks - Boy Wonder

Hey Deac- have you looked under "maxima" on EBAY? Great place to find them - they are there all the time. I think they are selling for around $10-20. Good luck

The clear markers aren't DOT approved, so they're not legal. Autodynamic also included info on usage stating that it's for "off road use only."

I haven't had problems with the cops... yet. Here's what my clears look like at night.

When i got a ticket last week for my front windshield visor, the cop told me the clears were illegal. He named three things illegal with my car: tint, front windshield visor, and the clears

There are three companies which sell the clear rear side markers, plus some people on EBay. EBay has the best prices if you can find them. If not, look at http://www.fourthrock.com/maxima/2k_parts_list.html and notice the three companies listed.

I was afraid

that there might be some legal ramifications with the clear markers....

Also, does anyone know if the red bulbs for the rear clears look "pink" or red at night?

I have seen some trucks with totally clear rear taillamps and they look pink at night and when they put on the brake they are almost white!! ...That looks dumb and it IS dangerous!

to my knowledge..

Clear front markers are legal in most states only if you add an additional amber reflector. A clear front marker with an amber bulb alone is not legal.

Rear clear markers with red bulbs should be fine.

The red bulbs in the rear clears look red on my car at night, not as red as if you still had the red lens, but certainly not pink.

We are all still waiting for NOPI or APC or Autodynamic or someone to make the front clears for the 2K - so far, none to be had!
