tires
these might be a couple of dumb questions, but i'm not too familiar with cars yet, so i apologize. i tried a search, but couldn't find straightforward answers to my questions. on my 2002 gle, i'm thinking of switching to 225/45/17 tires...i know the gle rides a little higher than the se...will it look too dumb with the bigger gap between tire and wheelwell? also, i'm thinking of a max performance tire (pilot sports, so-3)...how bad are they really in the snow? can one just use common sense and be ok, or is not recommended at all? thanx for any advice you guys may have.

i was thinking of that, but my principle concern is that there are very few tires available for 235/50 and 225/50. how about getting max performance tires for occassional use in the snow? is that completely suicidal?

If your principle concern is fender gap, you might want to think about going the opposite direction. Rather than consider a 225/45R17 tire, you might want to consider a 235/50R17 instead.
