y-pipe

Whether you choose the Cattman or Warpspeed Y-pipe you only need the Cali-emission Y-pipe for a 2000-2001. The gain should be 10-18 hp depending(intake, pulley, etc..). Let me tell you that the power is sweet when installed on a AE. I've added the berk intake and that was nice but then I added the Y-pipe and WOW. Acceleration from 1500-3500 rpms takes a few seconds but then when you hit 3500 rpms it pulls like mad. One of the best mods you can do for $300-400.
One thing though... after installation of the Y-pipe you'll need to remove both metal bracket that cover the exhaust channel. They are there to support the exhaust system in case it fall off. Well that's not going to happen. The flex section of the aftermarket Y-pipes is smaller then stock so when you accelerate hard that transfers to the exhaust system and will make it bang into those channel braces.

First, the metal retaining brackets you refer to are there for a reason. Nissan didn't put them there because they had some extraneous metal lying around that they didn't know what to do with. Second, your statement that exhaust systems cannot come apart is just plain wrong. They CAN come apart, often with disasterous consequences if exhaust components are allowed to hit the ground. And third, if the Y-pipe is installed properly, the exhaust piping will NOT bang into the brackets no matter how hard you accelerate.
I'd STRONGLY recommend that you keep the retaining brackets when you install your Y-pipe, maximarolla.

BTW did you notice, that Stillen and Cattman advertise their Y-pipes as for Off-Road Use only? You know what this means, it is VERY illegal to remove any catalytic converters from a stock car. This could contribute to increased emmissions and lead to pre-mature global warming. This in turn would cause a global disruption in the ecosystem and someday might spell the end of the human race! Nissan does not condone or encourage any sort of modification to your stock exhaust system. Keep in mind, this could possibly make you drive faster than you normally do, and this could have dangerous ramifications! Car accidents leading to injury and death are commonly caused by excess speed. I'd STRONGLY recommend that you do not mod your car in any way as it could lead to your death, and eventually the death of the human race!
Oh, but if you do mod your car, I don't think removing the retaining bracket on your exhaust will be much of a worry.
